Luxury lodge in a beautiful setting on the river. Everything from the safari guides, lodgings, rooms and personnel is outstanding but never ostentatious. Not only is the lidge beautiful during the day, but at night time, it is quite magical. With over 600 petrol lamps scattered all over the decks, paths, and steps by the river, the atmosphere is absolutely divine. A must is either dining on the river or, even more delightful, in the bush. I cannot imagine anyone leaving this place not wanting to come back. The guides and drivers are outstanding too and not only are the Jeep safaris worth it, but a boat trip on the river at sunrise gives you the chance to come very close to the rhinos in the water.

We had a truly wonderful time Barahi jungle lodge. It was hugely relaxing and peaceful, with our beautiful room looking over the river. The beds were so comfortable and the bathroom was lovely too. Food was really delicious every meal. Loved all of it - very fresh and varied. We did two full days of drives and saw extensive wildlife, with a fleeting glimpse of a tiger in the distance. However the large number of rhino, deer, monkeys, some sloth bears, bison and birds mean that it’s a really enchanting experience in beautiful surroundings. Huge thanks to every member of the team for making it such a wonderful experience. There was extreme kindness and generosity shown. Every single one of them went out of their way to ensure that we had a great time.

We have recently returned from a four night stay at the Barahi Jungle Lodge where we had a truly wonderful time. The staff really couldn’t do enough for us and were happy to accommodate any special requests that we made (whether this was special orders for the kids at the restaurant or additional activities just for our family). Our guide, Rajesh, really looked after us and we really enjoyed all of the activities (jungle safari, boating etc) that we undertook with him. He really did go the extra mile to make sure that we had a good time. We saw lots of animals (rhinos, peacocks, and wild boar being a highlight for the kids). The bungalows are immaculately clean and well designed with everything you need for a comfortable stay. After staying at several other hotels in Nepal, we were very happy to have a comfortable bed and tea and coffee making facilities. I was also very impressed by the massage I had the spa. I had a knee issue before I had my treatment which now seems to have been resolved! Aside from that, it was a really good massage in general! Some thought has been made to ensure that the lodge reduces its impact on nature with filtered water and sensibly packed toiletries, which we were very pleased to see. The food that we ate at the lodge was fantastic - especially breakfast, although we honestly enjoyed all of our meals at the lodge, which included buffets and set menus as well as a la carte. I also really liked the unlimited tea and coffee available at the resort. Again staff at the restaurant were top notch and looked after us really well. We also enjoyed the evening performances, and learning a bit more about the local community - in fact one of the activities that we liked the best was the walk around the local village with Rajesh. Overall we had a really great stay and really didn’t want to leave!

We stayed 3 nights and it was amazing. Our family of 4 booked 2 waterfront bungalows. The décor was so special, with hilarious clay bird sculptures pooping on the bed, gorgeous stone flooring, and a bathroom like a spa. The terrace was unreal, right on the River, we watched crocodiles, rhinos, and elephants crossing and bathing. It felt like a wildlife documentary. The hospitality here is from another world. The general manager, Prakash, a truly wonderful, impressive man, was very attentive and solved a little private problem we encountered right away. We can’t say thank you enough! Prakash and Krishna both waited for us at the front reception when we arrived, making everything smooth and delightful from the start. Their crew’s kindness and thoughtfulness, pampering us, anticipating every need, just beautiful people. The whole team’s warmth outshines even this resort’s gorgeous setup. We were so lucky to take the jeep safari with Tek, our expert guide. His knowledge was extensive, and he patiently answered every question with incredible detail about the wildlife, the diverse plants, everything. He tracked animal footprints and dung, leading us to rare sightings. We came real close, just a few meters away to a herd of wild elephants with a baby on migration from India, rhinos, countless spotted deer, birds, monkeys, and wild boars with their striped babies. This man’s a legend! We’ll never forget it! We also loved the couple’s massage therapy, so relaxing we sent our kids for their own session. The buffet meals were marvelous, along with the evening cultural dances. This place is a piece of heaven! Huge gratitude to Prakash, Krishna, Tek, and the entire crew for making this unforgettable. We’ll be back!

This lodge is a GEM meaning it is small and precious. We woke to the sight of Robby the elephant munching on breakfast across the river! We did a morning boat safari and two jungle safaris led by Sagar. Sagar was very knowledgeable about animals, birds and the vegetation. We learned so much from him! The staff treated us like royalty especially our fave Sanjana. Mr Tej Thanait, the food and bev manager helped make excellent recommendations. We had a beautiful candle lit dinner by the river with lots of local specialties. I was very sad to leave.

We had booked four nights at Barahi Jungle Lodge with full-day packages. My wife and I were picked up at the airport by an English-speaking host and driver, and we were later welcomed by the lodge manager who introduced us to our excellent personal guide, Sudixcha. The compound itself is lush and elegant, the guest bungalows are large, comfortable, and quiet, and all look out onto the national park. Breakfast, lunch, dinner was buffet style, and remarkably varied. The dishes were distinct and tasted fresh – a big thumbs up for the cooks. We did not see tigers during a morning hike into the jungle, but we saw foraging rhinos within throwing distance, monkeys, and herd upon herd of spotted deer. Our two stick-carrying guides did point out fresh tiger markings – they were excited, but I did not mind the big cats eluded the four of us. The river and jeep safaris revealed the park’s geographical diversity and everywhere the park was teaming with wildlife -- and our guides knew how to spot it. In general, the service in Nepal is excellent, but the guides and the staff at the lodge were particularly good at making the guest feel special.
