The area surrounding Centre Parcs Hochsauerland is picturesque and quintessentially what you expect of Germany. Cute villages with chalet style housing, hills and forest. Very beautiful. The centre @ Centre Parcs itself was lovely and clean and had lots of activities, but sadly as an English family who did not speak German or Dutch, several were unavailable as they did not have the staff who could run the sessions in English. We tried to hire the push bikes for the 9 kids within our group, but they only had 6 for the whole site, which had over 700 lodges. We tried to hire the 6 along with three e-scooters, but they only had 2 of those working. The adventure area was great with loads of activities for the kids to do while the adults had a coffee. The communal areas in the lodges were very clean with all you could need, but sadly in areas you could not see (underneath beds) were filthy, with what I would imagine was several months’ worth of dirt. Off site, there are some great activities to try (luge, skiing (when snowy), zip lining and mountain biking) about 15 minutes drive away and these are reasonably priced. All in all, I would not recommend this Centre Parcs unless you speak German or Dutch, although there were several English families had made the long drive to the site.

We had a good week at this park and think it rates well against the British ones we have tried. It was about half the price (we were visiting outside of the german school holidays) and the range of amenities was better overall, if more appealing to younger children. The location is quite rural (rolling hills with lots of forest) so took a bit of driving. But the local town (Medebach) is an established tourist destination so there is plenty to do, even outside the park. We had the cheapest accommodation (comfort) and it was fairly basic but spacious and had everything we needed. The bathrooms appeared quite new and the beds were comfortable. You do have to pay for sheets/towels but the charge is not excessive. The swimming pool is typical for CP including waves, slides and areas for younger children. The swimming pool was bigger than parks we have visited in the UK and had a good range of slides plus an outside area (including deckchairs etc). Changing cubicles were a bit limited but, that aside, we really enjoyed it. The other major attraction for children is called the Spielberg (an enormous playground on a hill). It is advertised as part of the park but is actually just outside - literally adjacent - and free for any visitors to the area. You can walk to it from your chalet within 5-10 mins. One thing we hadn't realised about european CP was that all the parks are in fact open to non-residents (at a charge) so this probably does increase the numbers on certain days but we never felt it was overcrowded. Food-wise I have read some quite negative comments on here but we felt it was fine. There are several restaurants in the covered 'village centre' serving mostly german-style/international/italian food. There is also a pub/cafe on the Spielberg. Quality was decent and we thought the buffet (at the market restaurant) was pretty good. It is perfectly possible to cook in the houses (there was an oven and hob, sufficient crockery/knives/cutlery etc) and the prices at the supermarket were only slightly higher than at the shops in town. The staff at the park were polite and professional. There are possibly fewer staff here than we have seen at UK parks so you may have to queue a bit for reception / shops but I didn't find any to be rude and they were very responsive about any problems we had. Other positives that we noticed were free, reasonably quick, WIFI and easy access to your car (the parking is nearer and not as vast as in UK so you can easily nip into town). Would have given 4.5 stars if I could.

Beautiful house, nice swimming pool with super handy lockers that you can close by entering your house number, beautiful playgrounds, not too expensive supermarket, but many stray cats walking around in the park. Lots of things to do like bowling. Friendly employees.

Have been coming for 16 years. Cottages have been updated which is a plus and was urgently needed. Minus points ; swimming pool closes at 7:30 last year still 9:00 pm now you have to make choices get out or go for a swim. The catering industry used to be open from 10 a.m. to 1 a.m. only now from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Since the corona ....... there have been serious savings ....... on staff etc ...... Severe noise nuisance by Dutch (guests) krapuul ........ until only . In the past if you made noise after ten o'clock you got a warning and the twice you could pack and leave now....... Conclusion good park to relax without the noisy Dutch 😅

We stayed here for a week at the end of June in cottage 460. The park is beautifully landscaped against a mountain. Lots of greenery and many beautiful playgrounds here and there, but steep in some places. The Aventura play park on top of the mountain is great for kids with a fantastic view on top. The pool is also nicely laid out in jungle atmospheres with many slides. The market dome is also beautifully laid out. We stayed in a premium cottage for 6 people. The cottage was very clean, beds were good and practical. A downside is the "sofa", because this is a cheap garden bench where you can't sit properly with all good intentions. This is really no longer possible. In short, had a great stay in a beautiful area!

Parkhotel: Signage inside is very poor, finding an exit from the building is terrible. Cleanliness is great. Language skills of the employees is not evident, must be marked.

We stayed for 4 days for a family vacation at Center Parcs Hochsauerland. This was not our first stay at a Center Parcs so we were not surprised to find that our holiday home (Comfort) only appeared superficially clean. With the tight schedule (departure by 10 a.m., another guest arriving again on the same day at 1 p.m.), this is partly understandable, but there is still a lot of room for improvement. I would like to see a significant improvement here. Otherwise you have to say that the complex was well maintained and clean. The playgrounds were also clean, well-kept, in good condition and our two children had a lot of fun there. The physical well-being is sufficiently taken care of, no culinary delights, but you can't and shouldn't expect that. For the first time we were able to use the breakfast delivery service, which went beyond various baked goods that we knew from other Center Parcs. You were provided with everything you need for breakfast. We would book that again. I can only report one of the paid activities: the diving taster course. In the end you have to say: a disaster! The instructor was very nice and took good care of the kids who seemed to be having fun but the equipment they were given was just broken. A breathing system that supplies you with air underwater must not be broken! Since I dive myself, I was able to help the poor diving instructor and we exchanged individual parts of the children's equipment until all the children had something they could dive with, but we also had to cannibalize the equipment of the diving instructor, who then was no longer fully available. At €50 per child, I have to say: very, very embarrassing.
