Best Western McKenzie

McKenzie|1.27km from city centre
This place is going down rapidly. It seems with each stay, I’ve noticed things get worse, and management appears to be looking the other way. Initially, this was a nice place, and appeared well-maintained. But, this is no longer the case. Evidently, management is cutting cost in EVERY area, including maintenance and housekeeping. This hotel used to greet it’s guest upon arrival with a complimentary gift bag which included snacks/treats and a couple of sodas/waters. Now, you have to request bottled water, and you’ll have to carry it by hand, since they no longer have gift bags. In fact, they no longer provide the dirty-laundry bags you used to find hanging in their closet. The soap, shampoo, and toilet paper is generic. The tissue dispensers contain one, tissue paper; decoratively folded. When the tissue is pulled, it reveals and empty tissue box. Remember the “primary” colors? Blue AND yellow make green, right? Take a look at the pool. This pool should have been locked & tagged out of service, but it wasn’t. I didn’t see anyone in it, but it was NOT locked, and you know how kids are… They’ll just jump right in. Loose handles/hinges. Doors that won’t slide, or come off track… On my last stay, I was awoken at 0413 hrs by the extremely loud, blaring sound of the hotel’s fire alarm. I called the front desk to inquire about the alarm. The front desk clerk said, “Oh yeah. It looks like something’s unplugged. I’ll reset the system. Sorry.” So much for a “good, night’s rest…” To “top things off” I awoke to find my toiletries covered with fire ants. I left a message for the manager to call me; to no avail. Take a look at the attached pics; they tell quite a story…
