The Lodge at Wisp

My sister and I stayed in the older part of the building one night to attend a nearby wedding. It looked clean but there were issues. 1. A light fixture was falling from the ceiling near the door. 2. Bathroom ceiling tiles were water stained and out of place. 3. The beds were comfortable at first but the springs could be felt in some areas. We are not early risers especially after a fun night but we cleared out quickly. Maybe the newer part of the hotel is better??

The resort and hotel exceeded my expectations. Helpful, patient, and friendly front desk staff when an issue came up (which was my fault). Manager was also a great help and willing to do whatever was necessary to make the stay smooth. The rooms were large and very nice and a pleasure to stay in. I really don’t understand how anyone could say it’s run down? I travel a lot and have a lot of hotels to compare against, and the room was exceptional. I thoroughly enjoyed the slopes which stayed open despite the less than favorable weather conditions handed out by Mother Nature that week (great job to the mountain operations for keeping the trails open!). Ski patrol were very friendly and helpful. I will be back as soon as I can be!!!

First time skier: Overall I had fun, but the Terrain slope lift operator (bottom) was absolutely terrible. Yelling at people for how they used the lift without any indication on proper usage. I tried to ask for advice and also got yelled at despite announcing I was new to that lift style. Most workers for the resort were ok and nice, but a handful resorted to yelling and anger even in the beginners area.

The main lobby looks nice, but past that it is out dated and grungy. We left and got a refund because the room was so bad. How bad? The main entry light was falling out of the ceiling. The bathroom light was missing a cover. Water damage on bathroom ceiling tiles and wall without repair. The wall in the main area had active water leaks with bubbles in the paint. A smell of something like mold/mildew pervaded the room. There were dead gnats all over the bedding. Please save yourself the heartache of trying to find another place at the last minute. It is gross. Do not book here.

While the lodge is in need of a significant update it was clean and above all else the staff were top notch. Everyone from in the Lodge to on the slopes were friendly, kind and accommodating. Expect resort prices for food but plenty to choose from.

The Lodge at Wisp is extremely run down…broken ice machines, outdated and worn interior, plumbing in reverse, extremely limited food service and the free breakfast is about what it is worth…previously frozen chemical filled muffins, fake cream cheese, instant oatmeal, etc. Most services closed, housekeeping is on existent. We gave up after about an hour wait for a hair dryer. The Fantasy Valley golf course is just as awful…almost unplayable…flowering clover in the fairways and grass in the sand traps…just awful.
