Idle & Wild Chalet

Guests praised the varied, delicious breakfast and comfortable, well-equipped rooms. The friendly, attentive staff and convenient location near attractions were also highlighted. However, no disadvantages were mentioned.

My wife and I from the U.S. joined my wife's sister and her husband from Tehran for a brief tour of South Africa. The Kruger National Park near Hazyview was our second stop, after Capetown. The setting is absolutely charming, several miles outside of Hazyview. We arrived in the "low" season - December - and thus were the only guests for two of the three nights there. The lodging was excellent - each unit was a stand-alone thatched roof room with basic cooking equipment - no hotplate or stove, but microwave, toaster, electric kettle, and coffemaker. Amenities included a pool and a sauna, which my brother in law used and enjoyed. The maintenance was exceptional; the rooms sotless, the grounds well groomed. Breakfasts were a delight. The staff, particularly Connie (who spent years as an expert horticulturist in banana research) , went above and beyond and was very helpful in providing guidance and suggestions regarding where to go and what to avoid. Highly recommended!

Lovely chalets with a wonderful atmosphere! Has air conditioners and heated blankets so whatever the weather you’ll be happy! The beds are very comfy and bathrooms in wonderful condition! Very nice thatch roofs that give a wonderful atmosphere! Lovely staff and pets! The breakfast is amazing and all you could ask for!
