Sheraton Fuerteventura Beach, Golf & Spa Resort

Now back home following our 10nights stay at the Sheraton as a party of 7 adults, a 5 year old and a baby and wanted to share my opinion on the hotel. Firstly, the hotel itself… a very beautiful hotel with a fantastic layout, great pools and good location. However the hotel is looking very tired. Cracked tiles, worn out carpets, shower parts hanging off the walls etc. They did replace the majority of the pool sunbeds during our stay which are a lot more comfortable! There is a LOT of flies!! At the poolside and in the restaurant. The food at breakfast and from the pool bar was always beautiful- never had a bad meal! Quite a wide variety of options at breakfast from cooked foods, fruits, pastries and cereal to name a few. The staff are all very friendly and deliver a fantastic service. They always were very accommodating to our children which was a high stress relief for us. We did find the hotel to be exceptionally quiet, not a lot of a “holiday atmosphere” so to speak. Quite often found guests to look down at families with children- not necessarily a reflection on the hotel but definitely made us feel uncomfortable at times being watched a lot. Whether this is because it is only half full at the moment I do not know. The restaurants in the town… we again had some beautiful meals out but again it was missing that “umph” of a holiday vibe. For example, anyone that got up to dance to a live singer was stared at by a number of tables. My sister got engaged during our trip with the assistance of the hotel which was very thoughtful of them. Upon check out we also found that food had been added to our room from other guests. This system is extremely dated! We did not have a card on our room and paid for each meal to avoid a bill at the end. When paying for food you state your room number and sign the receipt with no further checks. Thankfully this charge was removed. We still had a great holiday nevertheless. However this is probably our last time to this area of the island.

This was my 4th and last stay at this hotel. Really lovely welcome from reception staff - great sea view room - had a lovely lunch in the pool bar. Wonderful beach - very clean. Spacious room with wonderful bed and bathroom facilities. I would really recommend this hotel. However it was only on checkout that I had a very bored checkout lady who didn’t crack a smile and whilst waiting for my transfer a fellow guest told me he had been warned that they would charge him €250 if he smoked on his balcony. Neither of us was aware that was not allowed. I did check this with the hotel on my return home and they confirm you can only smoke on the hotel reception terrace (which was directly below my balcony) or by steps by the pool. As a solo traveller and a smoker I spend a lot of time on my balcony and am respectful of my neighbours when smoking. I was not aware of this rule when booking on my last 4 trips. So unfortunately I won’t be returning - but highly recommend for non smokers.

On arrival, we were greeted warmly and offered drinks. One of our rooms was ready despite it not being 3 pm, so that was a bonus. We had 2 adjacent rooms - 1 twin and 1 king with sea view. Both were huge and had everything in it you may need for a comfortable stay. Some reviews comment on how tired the hotel is looking, and whilst that may be the case in some areas, you can not fault the cleanliness and efficiency of the staff. We stayed on a B&B basis, and the breakfast choices were brilliant and suited even the fussiest eater and set you up for the day. There are plentiful sunbeds and towels provided by reception. We used The Veranda a few times when having a pool day, and the food was good. You can charge it to your room and eat in or takeaway. There is a small shopping centre if you go out the back of the property, turn right and walk for 5 mins along the well laid path alongside the sea, this has a supermarket, a few shops and several restaurants on the ground floor. To the left, about 20 mins walk is the resort centre with other restaurants and a few gift shops. We enjoyed a morning in the spa, played a round of crazy golf, and hired a car via a rep in reception for €35 euros, which enabled us to visit Corralejo easily. A few niggles to mention: *The crazy golf is 6 euros each and is a decent 18 hole course but in a state of disrepair, perhaps a little attention needed here *We had a small, inexpensive necklace go missing from the room, it had been left on the side in the bathroom and disappeared. Resulting in one very upset teenager as it had only been bought 2 days previously. *A box would be handy to have at various stations around the pool for used towels, often if we were looking for a sunbed in the afternoon we couldn't tell if a person had left as towels were often just crumpled up on top of it. All in all, though, a decent stay.

We have been here 3 times now over the last three years. They have come up trumps every time and we would recommend this hotel for all ages. Superbly located with the sea on one side and golf course on the other, it is ideal for our family as we are sun worshipers and golfers. Book your golf in advance, it’s a really good course. The food is of a very good standard in the main restaurant and is buffet served. However, there are also two Ala carte restaurants available, which are just fabulous for Canarian or Asian food. You won’t be disappointed. You can also snack at the pool bar, which has a varied menu. We didn’t use the spa this time, so can’t comment. We always have a superior sea view room, which is huge and offers every facility including iron and ironing board They are clean and very spacious. So credit to the housekeeping staff, who are so polite and helpful. The waiting and service team are just amazing, always smiling and incredibly attentive. Finally the reception team. If you arrive in the evening you will be greeted by David concierge, always a huge smile and will look after everything for you. The team behind the desk will also go the extra mile to help. This is also where you get your fresh pool towels every morning. I hope we haven’t missed anything or overlooked anyone, but we will be back again next year.
