I wanted to adore this place but fell quite short. Came here end of April/ start of May for a 30th Birthday. Have travelled a lot and worked in high end hospitality, so was looking forward to 10 days of doing absolutely nothing! Being vegan I especially picked this hotel having stated it is very vegan friendly and had a vegan tasting menu from Alexis Gauthier having been to his restaurant in Soho. But everything was abit too much effort for a holiday. We arrived to a beautiful place, must admit the hotel was abit smaller than anticipated but absolutely lovely. We were shown to our room after a brief check in, overview of the hotel and discussion of dietary requirements (also having emailed the hotel beforehand.) No one at check in mentioned that all the information for the hotel was on a QR code so for the rest of the evening till the next day we were in abit of limbo not having a map of the hotel, what was going on etc! My mum even tried to contact the hotel via email and WhatsApp to try and do something nice for me for my birthday in a few days but they never replied to either messages. The room was lovely but with a few issues, there had obviously been at leak in the ceiling at some stage with brown water marks, the toilet wasn’t attached to the back of the wall and really wobbled there was dirt and hair behind the back of the bath and had to ask three times for some extra hangers when we arrived. The communication between staff was a little off, sat down to dinner on the first night was told the bread was vegan (It didn’t look it) the next day was told the same bread wasn’t vegan. At lunch they brought us octopus dip which we had to ask for them to take away and throughout the course of the holiday was served salmon, cheese etc. Having voiced some concern after the first few days we spoke to the food and beverage manager who was very apologetic and they did up their game. The food I was served in the main buffet having spoken with one of the head chefs was absolutely fantastic! Breakfast was also abit limited but lovely vegan pastry, fruit and on our last morning they did have some vegan yogurt which was delicious. The rum tasting was a highlight of the holiday and great fun. We also enjoyed going to the gym and playing tennis in the evenings when cool enough! Did try to book yoga for the afternoon class which was on the activity sheet for that day but apparently it wasn’t happening, which was rather disappointing. The staff definitely make this place and a special mention to Shubham, Pritish, Dev, Yan and Ayvind (whos aqua gym was brilliant). They really went above and beyond to make our stay special after having a few hiccups at the start.
