We stayed two nights as a family having one double bed tent which was very spacious and a family tent with three beds which was with all the luggage inside rather small. We stayed in many lodges before and in this one it seems they rest on the fact they got so many awards: - WiFi didn’t work properly - no water pressure (didn’t wash our hair as women with long hair because this wouldn’t have worked to get the soap out) - didn’t get into pool because water seemed dirty - food coming different times, especially for breakfast your pre- ordered choices come so late you’re not even hungry anymore; in general rather uncoordinated service What wasn’t a problem for us are the many cats, even though if you have an allergy this could be a serious problem. The team was also very nice. We had a really good sleep because of the air coming into the tents during night. Please don’t stop trying to maintain good quality in your lodge even though you’re highly awarded. When you hear about this you expect a lot more and sadly this is why we was so disappointed!

My partner and I stayed at the Ikweta Safari Camp in order to go to Meru Game Park. We loved everything about Ikweta. We stayed in many excellent lodges over the two months we were in Kenya and Ikweta was our favorite. The food was delicious, the service and services excellent and the accommodations were charming and comfortable and just what we wanted. The lodge is tastefully decorated which was important to us. Susan and John who created Ikweta were lovely, coming around every evening to chat with the guests, which we found very special. We self drove a jeep and Ikweta arranged for us to hire a ranger to guide us through Meru. Ruth was our guide and she was great. We saw rhinos and many other animals with her for two days. We liked Ikweta so much we tried to stay a third night but unfortunately it was booked.

First up, I want to mention the meals, this would have to be the best meals we have had so far on our trip, delisious. This is a small Eco run lodge located 5 minutes drive from the main park gate. Each room is themed for an African animal, we were in the Giraffe tent. Very comfortable bed and nice shower, but the hot water does take a while to come through. The lodge had a very nice pool, with perfect temperature, just perfect for a swim after a safari. Overall, we had an excellent stay with super friendly and helpful staff. Would definitely recommend if you are looking for luxury at a more affordable price.

Excellent luxury tented camp, calm with a good surrounding at an affordable rate. Very clean pool and friendly staff who will look out after you and organise anything that you might want. Oh! And the food was amazing. Looking forward to be there again.

Ikweta is a great example of affordable luxury, which is rare to find these days. The secluded Meru National Park, just a few minutes away, adds to the hidden gem that this part of Kenya is. The tents are exquisite, and it’s clear they take good care of the camp, with regular renovations to keep it up to standard. It’s not past its prime and offers great value for money. Even with a few small flaws—like the shower not being the best—the friendly and very helpful staff more than make up for it. They are genuinely caring and want you to have the best possible stay. They’ll come over for a chat, and even the owner, Susan, and the chef take time out of their day to say hello. The food is simple, which makes it appealing to everyone (especially kids, I’d assume!). Much of it comes straight from their garden, and you can tell they’re proud of it. You can even take a walk around the farm and see everything they grow themselves. On our last morning, we did a two-hour hike with Nemaya. He showed us around the farms and took us up the hill for a stunning view of the surrounding nature and Meru National Park. As a travel agent, I’ve sent guests here before—but after experiencing it myself, I’ll definitely keep recommending it. Keep doing what you do, Ikweta!

We had a lovely time at Ikweta. The staff is very friendly. We enjoyed a full safari day in Meru NP, a dive in the pool, morning hike and relaxed at our beautiful safari lodge! Thanks Alan, Anne, Suzan, Neemaya, Justin and the rest of the staff! :)
