The location of Hotel Baia Delle Zagare is truly wonderful, with spectacular private beach access via an elevator—a highlight of the stay. The scenic views and the beautifully maintained garden surrounding the hotel add to its charm. Everything is well taken care of, including the boutique, which features lovely accessories. However, the quality of the food and service at the hotel's restaurants was disappointing given the high price. Despite the gorgeous terrace overlooking the water, the dining experience did not meet expectations. The staff was friendly but seemed overwhelmed and inexperienced, leading to less attentive service. Additionally, the hotel has a significant bee problem that detracted from a relaxed dining experience. While the staff was receptive to feedback and apologized for the issues, no discounts or special attention were offered. Given the hotel's remote location, where other dining options are scarce, improvements in these areas are essential to enhance the overall guest experience.

A beautiful and secluded resort. The rooms were large, very clean and well-appointed. Access to the private beach was the best part! We had the same chairs reserved for us each day. The pool area is small but very nice, and the views are incredible. It was definitely expensive, and I don't think the quality of the food at their restaurants justified the cost. Drinks were also very expensive and not entirely worth it. Mattinata is not the easiest location to get to in Italy (we rented a car), but it is well worth it and away from the crowds of the more popular beach destinations. If we ever venture back to Mattinata, we would definitely stay here.

The place is absolutely wonderful and the hotel & premises are very nicely kept. One thing that can be a minus (a first "but") or a plus for some is its remoteness. It is good as long as you do not need any basic supplies (the closest village/store is 25 minutes drive and be aware of the 12:30 - 4:30 closing time of most stores in that region). To start with the hotel, the rooms we got (superior double) were really nice, with see view, clean and a very large terrace. Bathroom is spacious and modern. Restaurant: food is very good both breakfast (self serve with a decent amount of options) and dinner, and here comes the second "but"; most of the waiters are suddenly not that enthusiastic once they realize you do not speak Italian. The prices are decent, was actually surprised of the relatively (compared to other hotels) low cost for a very good selection of wines (around 20 EUR a bottle). Beach/pool : Not sure why the north beach is advertised as "sandy" as opposed to south one, both looked pretty similar to me, and the sand is not the main component :-) (but there is some sand). Otherwise very nice, private, sunbeds and umbrellas included in the room price, the staff there is actually nice regardless what language you speak, including the beach bartender. The beach bar is a convenient place to have lunch, mostly sandwiches. salads and grill. It is good to know that after 3:00 PM there is only very little sun on the north beach (being surrounded by high cliffs) There is a 5 floor elevator (or stairs) to get down to the beach. Pool area was strangely empty during the day.

Our room was nicely renovated. The hotel is very pleasant. A great place for a good rest. The two beaches are beautiful. The large pool was also very nice. We loved it in the morning as it was quiet. Even late afternoon when there were more people we could swim with no problem. The dining room is beautiful and there are very nice views. However if you want a table right in the front we had the impression you needed to be Italian. All the foreigners were seated in the second rows. This was our observation. The Maitre D who seated guests seemed to give preference towards the Italian guests. There was a second Maitre D though who was very friendly and helpful. Everybody was very nice. The head of the front office was very friendly and extremely helpful. We had no problem booking a taxi to take us to Bari. It was interesting to stop at San Giovanni Rotondo on the way where Saint Padre Pio is buried. We enjoyed our stay here and highly recommend the hotel. It was a great experience.

A real hidden gem on the Gargano coast… we felt spoiled from the first until the last second of our stay. Breakfast and dinner were really top class! Room was spacious and clean with a nice terrace. We will certainly return!

Such a beautiful place, the bay is stunning and unique. Well organised and with staff well trained. I highly recommend it! Breakfast is really good! We used the kayak service which was an absolute plus, thank you to Emanuele for his professionalism too!

Our first time to Hotel Baia Delle Zagare was pleasant, but very disappointing. The resort itself has a spectacular view from the restaurant and the beach and it has beautiful well maintained landscaping throughout the property. The windowed elevator to the North beach was quiet, quick and efficient, and provided a great view. We booked four nights, with breakfast included. Our room was a Deluxe Veranda on the first floor (one flight of stairs as there in no elevator) of building Oleander with Sea View, however the view was obstructed by many trees, which does not meet my standard of a sea view. The veranda was however spacious, as was the room. It was very clean and had many wonderful modern features with a very comfortable king size bed. The temperatures during our stay exceeded 38C and the air conditioning in our room was inefficient, and we were unable to turn it below 22C. The room comes with a minibar with a few non-alcoholic beverages, however ice is only available at the bars. We ordered ice to our room on the first 2 days, and when they delivered the second bucket we were rudely told that the next order of ice would cost us 10 Euro! The breakfasts are buffet, however, they insist on having a server to place each item on your plate, versus self serve. We found this to be very annoying and extremely inefficient. And quite often they would give you more than what you asked for and were often times rude as they were very rushed trying to cater to everyone. The seating at breakfast is first come first serve, so the best views were generally taken first, however at dinner, you must make a reservation through the front desk for one of three seatings, and then the maître d would sit you where he wanted, however, be aware that unless you are a mezza pensione (booked all your meals at the hotel) you will not get a good table. The same goes for the beach lounges. The more you pay, the better your position on the beach. Most of the serving staff in the main restaurant appeared to be students in training with little or no experience. The dinner menu was very limited, expensive, lacked flavour and appeared more like assembly line packaged meals. Certainly not 4 star hotel quality by any means. We had our first 2 dinners there, and on the 3rd night we opted to try a small family run restaurant around the corner from the entrance to the hotel where we had excellent food and friendly and efficient service, with a spectacular el fresco sea view. We returned again to this lovely place on our 4th and final night for another fabulous meal. Also, be aware that you will need swim shoes for the beach as it is all pebbles. The best part of our experience at the hotel was the hostess Ilaria, who always greeted us with a warm and friendly smile. In summary, it is indeed a beautiful spot, but the food and service in no way measures up to the standard of a four star resort, and the price you pay.
