The only thing to complain is the waitress in the restaurant. She’s so arrogant, cold. She seems the only one to take orders at dinner and breakfast time . It’s very hard to put up with her. I only left 2 pound tip. That’s only for the courtesy. she doesn’t deserve the tip at all! We planned to stay in the same hotel on the way back from Scotland, but hesitate because of her bad service as it’s hard to avoid . It’s inconvenient to have meals outside the hotel. .., Plus the salad served with old whole leaves !!! Staff are always welcoming and can’t do enough to make your stay the best it can be. The hotel rooms are spotless with really comfy beds. Breakfast was nice and a good selection for anyone’s taste. Hot foods can be ordered when you sit down and there is a good selection of fruit, yoghurt, toast, cereal to help yourself to as well. The hotel is ideally located in the centre of Ambleside with good parking. We didn’t need to move the car once we had arrived as everything is in walking distance and we spent our days exploring the many walks which you can take from Ambleside. We are regular visitors and this is our favourite place to stay.

Most places were fully booked and twice the price (at least) , I only needed to stay one night, £60 room only with plenty of places to walk to for food if needed, room was clean and spacious (some reviews say it’s dated) erm probably to do with the fact it’s a really old building- clean comfortable bed and clean bathroom, within easy reach of everything- no parking but the owner will direct you to parking straight across from the hotel that was no problem at all - I will stay here again - thanks
