This onsen hotel charges 80,000 yen per night, offering excellent facilities but minimal service. The dinner is a course-grade meal served in an all-you-can-eat style. While some may appreciate this setup, it’s not my preference. However, as a drinker, you’ll find a wide variety of alcoholic beverages to choose from.

The hotel is right next to an art gallery. The directions are not very clear and it is easy to go wrong. Breakfast and dinner are buffets.

It must have been my first luxury hotel in 30 years, so I went there looking forward to it, but I had an inexpensive buffet-style dinner, and the meat was all firm and red with streaks from bluefin tuna. And best of all, it was over at 7:45. We didn't take a bath late at night, and it cost 100,000 yen for two people. Has the manager ever eaten the meal? The facilities were fine and the breakfast was average. It was a good experience.

Very nice hotel. The dining service method is very special. The chef will cook in front of you according to your needs. This is a rare management method in high-end hotels in Japan. A variety of coffee and drinks can be provided 24 hours a day. There is also a free bar starting at 8 o'clock. Recommended!

The hotel has good food and beverages. There are free coffee and tea for 24 hours. Free alcohol is provided at certain times. The view outside the room is very good, overlooking Songdao Lake.

The room (I had the basic level option) was gigantic for Japan, with a huge picture window and a view to die for. To say I was blown away upon arrival would be an understatement. The hotel is spacious and uncrowded. I suspect it caters almost exclusively to the Japanese market so some instructions were on rather informal notes, or simply only in Japanese. The rate is breakfast and dinner included but also includes unlimited alcohol from 7pm and coffee/tea/refreshments all day with an icecream bar in the late morning and afternoon. The silence and sleep quality was superb as was the bathroom with shower. The 'set meals' are a little strange for Western habits in that a full menu is offered but is selective as you need to present at a chefs station to have your dish prepared. The nominally western menu was still quite unusual and the Japanese typically such. As the menu does not change night to night, you may find yourself wanting a change by the 4th night. There is no meal service at lunchtime, so you need to prepare, either by taking a trip out, or by finding something light at the nearby 7/11 as any other restaurants are a good 20 minutes walk away.

Overall: Very nice hotel with friendly staff. Relatively big hotel but you don’t feel it’s crowded. The room is for Japanese standards spacious. The TV is quite small but you are not here to watch TV. Food: We booked a package including food and drinks. They have an open kitchen where you order your food and it’s prepared in front of you. They try very hard and the food looks nice but at the end of the day it’s just quickly produce dishes. The quality is OK but don’t expect a gourmet explosion. Everything is self service. It comes with an all you can drink set. If I should give it a price I would judge Tokyo pricing: the food 4.000 and all you can drink 2.000. I mentioned it because like this one can better evaluate the room price Small “spots”: This is the very first hotel in Japan where I didn’t have any shampoo in the room/bath The shower and the bath in the room is small. The toilet itself is also very small.

This is a new type of hotel that has been well thought out. This is an all-inclusive hotel with minimal staff, so you do everything yourself except for having your luggage carried to your room. You can pay your hotel bill using a machine, but you can do so at any time during your stay. We stayed in a garden terrace view bath deluxe twin room. I like the modern Japanese style, and it's designed like a suite. Unfortunately, due to heavy rain, we were unable to use the garden terrace. You can see the garden and Matsushima from the view bath, but it is not a hot spring, but just a collection of hot water. Next time, I will use the large public bath and stay in a regular room. In the lounge, you can freely enjoy alcoholic beverages such as sparkling wine and beer, soft drinks, coffee, ice cream, and several light snacks. They don't have the best ones, but they do have some decent ones. There seems to be bar time at the counter at night. For both dinner and breakfast, you look at the menu and go to the counter to pick it up yourself. It is a style where you receive the chef's freshly prepared food on your plate. There are Western-style and Japanese-style dishes, and if you eat all of them, each will become a course. Although not the best, everything was delicious and sufficient. I also have to go to the wine cellar to get my own drinks, but it's a bit far so I don't feel like going there often. I felt that it was designed to prevent me from drinking too much. I would like to note that there were no shower caps in either the room or the public bath, and there was not enough tea throughout. Overall, it was a good hotel and I would like to go there again. Next time I would like to check in early and try the bedrock bath and massage.

Everything was wonderful. The room had an open-air bath, so the room was spacious and had two W beds. It was a buffet that included breakfast and dinner, but it was delicious. There was a large selection of hot items that I could eat hot, and since it was all-inclusive, I had unlimited alcohol, so I drank a lot. The hospitality is also great. Although it was a fairly large and large hotel, we were treated with great attention to detail.

I stayed in a twin room on the 4th floor. It's a large hotel, so there are a lot of people. The building is very clean. The windows in the room were large, and I could see the Matsushima islands and hot air balloons. There was a trick to unlocking the door to the room, so I couldn't open it smoothly. Many places nowadays allow you to watch YouTube on TV, but this one doesn't. They provide work clothes, but they are one size fits all and the fabric is thick. I think they are too big for petite women and too hot in the summer. Many people were wearing Western clothes without work clothes. Since it is all-inclusive, I got beer and wine in the lobby. You can take them to your room, but I wish there were drinks in the refrigerator in the room. It is an order buffet, so you can adjust the number and amount, and you can eat at your own pace. There are not many menus. There are two large public baths, and I liked the observation bath because the spring quality and the view were good. The lockers in front of the baths were not working properly, so they stopped opening twice. I hope they improve it. Overall it's not bad, but there were many things I would like to see improved for the price, so I gave it 3 stars.

Good points: The order buffet is of a high standard, with both Japanese and Western dishes, and the bar is staffed by a bartender. Bad points: The check-in and check-out process and the room amenities are too basic. The dinner buffet starts at 5 p.m., so be early. The special rooms on the lower floors may be a little crowded from the outside.

I stayed here for two nights. The room was spacious and the view was great. It was all-inclusive, so they had a surprisingly wide selection of alcoholic drinks. The only disappointment was that the buffet, which they are proud of, had almost the same menu on both days. Staying consecutive nights might be a challenge.

I visited the hotel last summer for the first time in years and it had become a very comfortable hotel, so I decided to spend my birthday there. The all-inclusive is stress-free and nice. However, the free drinks are not served until late at night, so it's not enough for people like me who want to drink until just before going to bed! I went all out and got a room with an open-air bath. The quality is so good that I don't think I need to use the large public bath. The view from the room was good and the weather was nice, so I was able to relax on the balcony with coffee and a book. I was satisfied again this time! I'll go again when I want to refresh myself.

I stayed in a deluxe twin room (45㎡) on the 5th floor of the LW. The room was exactly as shown in the photo on the website, and there was a library corner for the floor, which was convenient. The room was renovated in 2019, so it was sparkling clean. You can watch YouTube. The PC connects easily. The Simmons bed is also comfortable. You can see the garden and the sea from the window, which is very beautiful. Ichinobo's garden is beautifully lit up and can be enjoyed at night. If you are staying in a Japanese-style room, I recommend a room facing the garden rather than the fishing port side. This is a room on the 5th floor, so the view is good. It is convenient to go to the spa on the 1st floor or the lobby on the 3rd floor. You can get a drink from the bar and relax in your room. The observation open-air bath is far away, so that is a minus, but you can spend a quiet time. It is good that it is an adult floor. You cannot see the sunrise, so I watched it from the observation open-air bath. The food is very good and delicious because it is a live kitchen. As it is on the website, dinner costs several thousand yen per person. It is often compared to Ichinobo in Sakunami, but Matsushima is better in both quantity and quality. It is natural that the room rates are different in Sakunami, where there are many old rooms without baths or showers, and Matsushima, where the basic rooms are provided. Apparently, the policy here is to stop offering special services and make everyone equal. I read in an article on their website. So, if you are thinking "It's our anniversary, so I'd like a special service to celebrate," "I've been here many times, so I'd like them to say thank you as always," or "I stayed in a more expensive room, so I'd like to be treated specially," then this may not be the place for you. They have apparently reduced the amount of amenities and shower caps, which was also mentioned in an article on their website. I've stayed here several times because I thought it would be comfortable to stay alone. I like the smooth service.
