The recent refurbishment has been done really well, keeping the original charm while adding a fresh, modern look. The tasting menu was amazing, with delicious flavors in every dish. The wine pairing was spot on and made the meal even better. A big thank you to James for his excellent service—he was friendly, professional, and made the evening special. Highly recommend!

The staff was professional, friendly and accommodating. The room was beautiful and spacious. The bed was so comfortable it was difficult to leave it. Oh, and the grounds and garden are gorgeous—-right on a river with great views of stone bridges. Five stars all around!

Sunday lunch. 3 courses. Set menu with various options for vegans and veggies. Delicious food and perfect, professional service. Thank you for a lovely afternoon! The whole place is an absolute delight. The staff, decor, gardens, toilets and even the hand soap.

We chanced upon this hotel and restaurant after my son had been unsuccessful at booking a table for lunch elsewhere, his last minute birthday celebration. We were met by friendly staff who showed us to our table. We were showed the lunch menu which had an excellent choice of dishes for a lovely 3 course lunch. The table service was excellent, Lee was particularly welcoming and also another young lady (whose name we didn’t know) both looked after us extremely well. The food was delicious and beautifully presented, served in a timely manner given the dining room was full. Congratulations to the chef for such a fabulous menu. Thanks again to Lee for looking after us so well. Highly recommend it to anyone passing by.

What helps create a perfect stay? A warm welcome from courteous staff that continues throughout your stay, Superb customer service. Breakfast was excellent, as it as a Monday stay we ate at The Ashford Arms ( great food and service there too). The Room number 3, suite with four poster, had a comforting feel, as though you were part of history. Will visit again and sample the dinner menu. Blossoms lovely too!

It was a real treat to return to the Peacock. This was our first visit since the new ownership and we were taking friends for a special occasion. We had the same warm welcome as always and it was great to see all the staff members who make the Peacock experience so special. The food was absolutely fantastic, between us we had the lamb, venison and duck - all fantastic. We then all had a dessert - again, delicious. Really great flavours. All in all, a perfect lunch with exceptional service in a wonderful setting

We went for lunch to celebrate my birthday. The experience from beginning to end was exquisite. We started with the most delightful cocktails whilst relaxing in the lounge and perusing the menu. We had nibbles that were freshly cooked and beautifully crafted, a treat on their own! 4 of us opted for Halibut and one venison. Wow! Just wow! The plates went back to the kitchen with not a speck left! We finished with coffee in the beautifully manicured garden by the river. I can’t finish without mentioning the staff, we were looked after like we were the only customers there, the service was impeccable! What a joy, a birthday I won’t forget in a hurry! ❤️❤️❤️

We've been here several times previously - to stay over (which was excellent) and for lunch in the restaurant. This time we ate in the very atmospheric bar. Overall, an enjoyable experience. The staff are always highly attentive, the food is very good, although a touch on the pricey side, for example coffee is £9.50, so this is special occasion territory.
