Stayed here for a couple of nights, when visiting the area. Lovely old building, with lots of objects and ornaments pointing to its unusual past (the town's Police Lockup). Even our room keys had handcuffs on! We stayed in the Magistrate's Room, which was really comfortable and beautifully decorated. Nice touches - fresh milk in the fridge and chocolate on the pillow. Our host, Tim was friendly and full of useful local knowledge. Good breakfast selection, cooked to order, and served with delicious home-made bread. Would definitely recommend a stay at this original B&B.

A comfortable and interesting place to stay. The Old Lock Up was clean, warm, and welcoming. I stayed for 3 nights in the Solicitor's room, which I found pleasant and characterful, with a comfortable bed and a good sized ensuite. It was very quiet with really thick walls. The breakfast was great and beautifully cooked. The property is well situated a short walk from the centre of Wirksworth. I managed it easily even with a sprained ankle. I had a very pleasant stay.

Our stay in the magistrate’s room was great, the room was beautifully furnished, spotlessly clean and the bed was comfortable. Breakfast was a treat and the location is good. Will be back.

Quirky, wonderful B&B Had a lovely 2 nights, mid-week at the Old Lockup. Very characterful and full of memorabilia from when it was a police station. Stayed in The Magistrates room on the first floor, very warmly decorated and furnished with a small en-suite. With Tea,Coffee and even a small fridge with complimentary bottle of milk and water. Breakfast provided, from a full English to pancakes. Owner really nice, and accommodating - nothing would've been too much trouble. Free small carpark onsite, with a large free parking area across the road Given your own keys to come and go even you wish, the local are Wirksworth was lovely. Had a tapas and quiz night in the Hope n Anchor which was very relaxed and a good laugh. St Marys church is beautifully adornedvl with saxon carvings and definitely shouldn't be missed. Overall could not fault it, and looking forward to visiting again xx

Very unique guesthouse. We stayed here due to an interest in the buildings history and to support a local business. The host was very friendly and the freshly cooked breakfast made to order each morning was very nice. The rooms could do with a little refresh but for the price and location it suited our needs.

Fantastic Hotel, we stayed in the magistrates room for my Birthday and it'd definitely a 'wow this is nice' when you walk in. The attention to detail from the milk in the fridge to the chocolate on the pillow. Clean and comfortable. Bed perfect and a nice clean bathroom. Breakfast was spot on and it was great to see all the Police memorabilia. Also dog friendly (we took plenty of old sheets as we didn't want any wet paws anywhere!) The owner was a gentleman. It's right near everything, local pubs, restaurants and the town is very cute with nice people.
