Located in the heart of Matera, which means you can’t get there by car, but the views and the room made up for the challenge of getting to it. Everyone was very professional. The room was large, clean and suited our needs. It felt like we were staying in someone’s mansion.

A beautifully restored noble house at the top of Matera. The walk to the breakfast room is worth the price of the room by itself! It goes through the main rooms of the old mansion. Gorgeous art galleries and a staff who are very helpful. You can drive to this hotel, but you have to follow their instructions. Typical good continental breakfast. Our room was large and comfortable with a completely equipped bath including bidet.

Booked 12 rooms in advance for a wedding, and 6 days before wedding they canceled everything by email—no calls, no real help. Their excuse? A plumbing issue. Their solution? Nothing. No relocation assistance, just a generic apology and a suggestion to “contact another hotel ourselves.” This is not how a professional hotel operates. Unreliable, unprofessional, and completely disrespectful. If you don’t want your plans ruined last-minute, stay elsewhere. #AvoidThisHotel #Unreliable #BadManagement

Great location with wonderful views The hotel is very much in need of updating to make it more user friendly. It is an absolutely gorgeous building We had a junior suite which was basically a big room with a settee in it. There was only electric points to one wall so there was battery bedside lamps, mine never worked. The bathroom was large with an over bath shower, the water was only just warm, when I asked about it I was told it was a requirement to have it temperature controlled, this was my 7th hotel in Italy and all the others managed to have hot water! The towels were thin and just adequate Breakfast was with terrific views but was at small tables with uncomfortable chairs, little choice and our worst breakfast of all the places we have stayed. On check in we were advised to use the rooftop bar for drinks with fabulous evening views of Matera only to find it closed for the whole time of our stay. The staff are friendly and helpful The car park is very difficult to get to and includes driving through heavily pedestrianised tourist areas, with narrow roads and a tight turn of palazzo duomo

What a splendid Renaissance palazzo, renovated to the highest standards! We spent 2 nights here - great location (we didn’t have a car be sure to get directions if you do) and the staff were extremely helpful. Lovely breakfast, quick turnaround on laundry and our room had a beautiful view of Matera.

What a splendid Renaissance palazzo, renovated to the highest standards! We enjoyed a junior suite with a private staircase to the rooftop. Dusk from the roof terrace was magnificent with the lights of Matera coming on. Staff was very friendly and so helpful. Ahmed helped me find our car when we were misled on directions with our navigation systemTatiana made a dinner reservation for us at Annina’s, which turned out to be our best meal in Puglia. The gentleman with West Virginia connections guided us out of the courtyard parking, which though pricey, was invaluable. Breakfast in the elegant dining room had great service and a wide choice of options including fresh fruit. The walk through the first floor rooms to arrive at the breakfast will forever be memorable—stunning art, architecture and furniture. We are only sorry that our stay wasn’t longer.

I stayed 2 nights at this hotel ( being upgraded to junior suite with view on sassi. People are really kind, room is very confortable , breakfast is good ( I would have waited a little bit more if choice, like different kinds of eggs for example , but still very good ) Parking , with fee if 30 euros per day , is a real advantage as you are at the highest point of Matera. View from the terrasse is exceptional but my only regret is that this terrasse is not used the way it should bring the best experience . Just a few uncomfortable chairs and 2 tables ( you can ask a glass of wine if a beer at the reception )

It is like staying in an art museum. It was an actual palace. There is parking on site, but realize the streets are small and ancient (to be expected). The breakfast was very good and included local specialties. The terrace provided great views. I wish the bar would have been open. I would stay here again.
