Tamani Villas

Missing Tamani and the beautiful sunrises...it was an incredible stay and the whole Tamani team was fantastic. Nothing was impossible. The villa was superb - exactly as described, even better actually as you don't get a feel for it until you get there. The beautiful white powdery beach is just a few steps away. Loved the food prepared the kitchen team. Loved the smiles on all the staff. The dolphin and snorkelling trip you organised for us was brilliant as was the Stone Town excursion. Best of all, Tamani is a peaceful haven that was perfect for our family reunion. We loved the fact that the profits from Tamani are invested back in the school the founders have set up in the village. It was such a pleasure to visit the school and see the great work you are doing. Asante sana and hope to visit again!

My family (6 adults 2 kids) came here for a weekend getaway. The home itself is situated in matemwe, which is about 1.5 hours from stone town and 30 mins from Kendwa/nungwi. Even though it's far from major tourist destinations, the loaction is absolutely perfect for those who are looking for seclusion from the hustle and bustle of city life. The beach is a beautiful, emerald green with plenty of seating areas. Unfortunately you will be disturbed often by the masaai who push for you to buy their jewelry and by the others looking for you to buy their services, but that's common all over Zanzibar and can't really be avoided. The staff were incredibly friendly, especially the caretaker Rashidi. He and the ladies were kind and warm, however the acting manager (Muhammed) was less so. The main manager Fem was away during our stay but she was also very helpful whenever we asked questions. The food was quite good too, albeit a bit overpriced for what you get. I'd recommend the full board options if you're planning on staying at the villa the whole time, but there are many restaurants and other resorts around matemwe to eat at too. Overall, this place is great for families who are looking for a weekend of peace an quiet. Activities aren't their strongest suit but where they lack in activities they exceed in hospitality and comfort.
