Wonderful hotel on Zanzibar with lovely caring staff. The location is peaceful and perfect for relaxing. We spontaneously ended up in this hotel last minute as our originally booked hotel (Kena Bach) was full when we arrived. The manager greeted as warmly and showed us around the premises - needless to say we felt much more welcome and at ease than at Kena Beach. The manager always helped us out during our stay if we had any questions about trips, where to get money etc. The atmosphere at the hotel is perfect, the pool is nice (clean and in the sun). The hotel is directly at the beach so you can just walk down on the sand or walk to the snorkeling and diving center in 5 minutes. I went on a snorkeling trip with the One Ocean team that I had pre-booked at the hotel reception. The hotel also organized a trip to a spice farm for me, which worked out perfectly. The lunch menu is good but not the biggest selection. Dinner consisted of a three course meal with three different options per course. There was also an entertaining Swahili dinner one night with an interactive dance show. I can also highly recommend the massages. Prices are fair and the service was excellent. I actually booked two massages within three days because it was so good. The room I had was the Oyster suite right next to the pool. This location was amazing for me as it's conveniently close to the restaurant, pool and beach but also offered plenty of privacy and a modern open design to the room itself. There were even weaver birds nesting in the bushes in front of my room, which was fantastic to observe. The only downside during our stay was that the water is drawn back A LOT during the day, so you cannot really swim in the ocean during the day. There was also plenty of seaweed on the sand. I've been told there was a storm before so this is to be expected and I cannot say if you always have this much seaweed there or not. However, this is not a hotel issue, more a Zanzibar-issue.
