The Waverley Hotel Maryport

Had lunch with friend. She had lamb chops ( six chops)which she said melted in her mouth. Accompanied with assorted veg and garic mash I had curry with Nan bread etc. Absolutely delicious. Friendly staff and well worth a visit. Nice to know they are now open Friday and Saturday evenings.

I did stayed two nights, after one I wanted to leave. The working staff very friendly - that's why 1 star given. The breakfast really a disappointment- you have a choice of cereals( cornflakes, weetabix and bran flakes), English breakfast ( sausage, bacon - this one can come out overcooked- very crispy or almost uncooked, egg is a complete disaster(not sure is it fried or cooked on steam?), baked beans, one slice of tomato, a slice of toast), milk in the dirty milk jug served to us, the glasses for the orange juices- some of them dirty and broken. I really think the chef/owner should stick with cooking curries than preparing fry up. The room very dated, peeling wallpaper, a cobweb. I was staying in the family room so had a access to bath. There are nice new bathroom fittings but the shower a real disappointment. If you manage to start the shower you are welcome with no pressure, very difficult to regulate temperature. I know I'm not staying in the room all the time but a shower would be nice to have at least once a day. There was a kettle ( looked clean, no visible wearingdown), a tea, coffee sachets. The cups were definitely not clean(a bit sticky, dusty), glasses in the bathroom- why would you leave them near the sink and not on the tray with cups. The only explanation would be that the room wasn't clean between each use. Which on this realisation makes me think how clean really was the bedding? The room had a carpet all over including the bathroom, which is quite surprising due to hygiene issues expecially around the toilet( imagine if you a male/ female with aiming problems expecially after few drinks). Overall, I'm hugely disappointed at myself for booking this particular hotel. I liked the price and idea of good breakfast included. Didn't bother me how dated decor was. At the end it cost me an extra £20 a night(as booked by mistake a double room) - as arrived late didn't have a choice but upgrade and stayed two nights or loose my money. Also after trying the breakfast first time definitely didn't want to risk it next day so the cost went up as well. I think in the future I will definitely be more careful and stay clear from a good deals on the hotel expecially run down ones.

A very friendly welcome and check in. A car parking disk provided for parking on the roads in the town and out side the hotel, I had a single room at the front of of the hotel Which was very clean and a decent shower. The breakfast was very good The only down side was the curtains in my room which allowed too much light in at 04;30 in the morning otherwise a great place. I’ll defiantly stay again

Nice place, we booked just to have a night out somewhere different. Room very clean, bed very comfy, staff friendly and helpful. Breakfast lovely, set us up for the day. We'd definitely recommend this place.
