"The location is excellent, just a 5-6 minute walk to the train station, and there's an Aldi supermarket conveniently located nearby. The room itself was spotless, and the air conditioning worked very well. They thoughtfully provided a clothesline in the bathroom, which was very convenient for drying clothes after washing."

"The room was modern, clean, and very spacious. It's conveniently located not far from the Old Port, and with a tram stop right outside, transportation is incredibly convenient. Having a fridge in the room was a definite plus. The front desk service was perfectly standard – neither outstanding nor poor. The only minor drawback was that the hotel doesn't offer daily housekeeping."

"A very good place to rest upon reaching St Charles train station. The room has a mini kitchen but the utensils are quite dirty and overall the room is a little old and dirty. But it’s not too atrocious that it affects comfort at night. It is still a decent stay. The streets around the hotel can be quite dangerous at night. There were people shouting and making noises, very dark place so just take note. The best thing was the water dispenser at the reception, it has sparkling water!"
"Nicely renovated modern and clean apartment on the 2nd floor - there is no lift and a narrow spiral staircase so pls be aware of that before booking. Small but has everyrhing needed. Secure and safe. Centrally located (because of its location there is street noise until late and garbage truck early morning). - easy walk to the old port and attractions. Paid parking nearby. Very clear instructions given plue communication was super good with the apartment manager."

"There are many strange people in the nearby environment. You must be careful when going back at night. The room has a peculiar smell, which may be the smell of the air conditioner, but the service is very good and it is close to the station."

"Right opposite to the train station, superb location. Might not be too good if you wanna explore the more city center of it - yet you have a direct train connecting to the old port in under 5 mins if you want to. Neat and clean, despite might look a bit aged inside and the bathroom would spill over some water, it is exceptionally good given the price and location. Standard breakfast, but good enough for the day!"
"Stayed here for 3 nights. The room is clean and quite new. It’s also very spacious for a solo traveller. The location is very close to the metro station and there are bus stops just outside. The hotel is also very close to the beach, restaurants, shops, bars and banks. Staff are friendly and helpful 👍🏻"
"Great location with friendly staff and very comprehensive amenities. Having two sinks - one in the kitchen and one in the bathroom - was very convenient. However, the hotel doesn’t actually have on-site laundry service for guests, and the toilet seat and toilet paper holder both fell off by the second night. Our room was also never made up in the three nights we stayed there. But for this price, I am very happy with my hotel experience here!!"

GGuest UserThe room facilities and services should be OK, but friends who drive themselves must pay attention that the hotel does not have its own parking lot. You can only park in a public parking lot next door, and then walk 200 to 300 meters from the outside with your suitcase. And because it is located in Laogang, this parking lot is full before 10 pm. It was really frustrating when I arrived on the first night. It is mainly recommended for friends who do not drive themselves.

GGuest UserHotel has nice decorated hall, bar and private parking. Staff at the reception was polite and often did their best answering our requests, but sometimes they were more eager to explain us all the rules and cared not much.
Bar closed around 10 pm. It was not a restaurant, most of the dishes from menu were absent and there were not much to eat at all.
There were no bathrobe and slippers which is pretty not standard for 4 star hotel.
Breakfast was not good. Everyday was one sort of ham, sausages and scrambled eggs, croissants and yogurt with fruits. It always ended at 10. Not even longer on weekend.
Staff at the breakfast was so arrogant. I felt superfluous.
Cleaning was okey, but very chaotic, they always forgot black tea or towel or paper or etc. Always pushing reading lights into pillows - this is crazy.
Room, bed, pillows, bathroom, tea facilities were convenient. Nice pictures of Marseilles, nice colors of the furniture. A/c was good, but not the coldest, though we were in the hot period where it was 40 outside. Windows are not big, no balconies, so it is a little bit gloomy. Shower and wc worked good.
There was grocery shop just around the corner and shopping mall.
Hotel has strange location though everything seems close on the map, in fact we never walked even to the Old Port, because for us it was too much walking.
But it was convenient to use a car with private parking. This made our trip really good.

SSarah0405The location is not far from the center, and it was good because it had a variety of kitchen utensils. The room was spacious, and the bathroom was also spacious. The balcony had a factory view in front, but I also saw trees and it was nice because it was wide open. It was within 10 minutes by Bolt taxi to the airport limousine bus terminal, which cost less than 10 euros, so I was able to safely catch an early morning flight.

GGuest UserWe stayed in Sofitel Marseille for 3 nights in the summer of 2023.
The hotel is located right on the periphery of the old port of Marseille where all the shops and restaurants are located. It takes about a 15-minute walk to get from the hotel all the way to the centre of the old port so the hotel is fairly insulated from the hustle and bustle of the old port. The exterior of the hotel looks a bit dated but the interiors feel very fresh, clean and bright.
We upgraded our room to a deluxe room facing the old port at the reception and we thought it was worth it. We never tired of waking up to a view of the old port with a clear blue sky. The room itself was quite clean and spacious. There was enough room to open up two luggages and still move around comfortably. There is also a turn down service where the staff will put out the bedroom slippers and play some nice Jazz music when you come back.
The bed was nice and comfortable and the pillows were fluffy. The only complaint we had was that the air conditioning would turn off in the middle of the night. The air conditioning control did not seem to work and it seems like the air conditioning is centrally controlled so the in-room controls did nothing. I could not sleep the first night as it was too warm and stuffy so we asked for a ventilateur (fan) the next day. That helped us to sleep better. Obviously, if you are planning to stay during the winter months then the heat at night should not be an issue.
The staff at the reception were always pleasant, warm, friendly and polite. We were upsold the room with a view when we checked in so that should say something about how friendly the staff were. It was EUR70 per night for the room with a view and it included overnight parking (EUR27 per night) so it was really only about EUR50 extra per night. The valet and the concierge were all very helpful and nice and they all speak English well enough.
If you intend to park here, do note that the roads within the hotel property can be quite narrow and the parking lots are quite narrow as well. It may be worthwhile getting the valet to help you park your car at least for the first day because driving from the car rental agencies at the Marseille train station to the hotel was stressful enough for us.
We paid around EUR300 - 350 a night but we thought it was worth it and we thoroughly enjoyed our experience.

GGuest UserWent for a long weekend to see the city and it’s history, really enjoyed our time, 3 days was plenty to see everything. The hotel was in a fantastic location, right near the Metro. Everyone was friendly in the hotel, and spoke English very well which was useful as our French isn’t great. Couldn’t have asked for anything more, also the deposit was paid back straight away on the same day in full. Highly recommend.

HH_DService is good, staff are always helpful. Good location; tram stop literally in front of the entrance, close to the port, the area behind the building it just seems a little bit sketchy. For breakfast, nothing special.

GGuest UserThe biggest advantage is that the train station is very close. The train station is on a high ground. It is very difficult to pull boxes in the city, such as the old port. It is recommended that the subway taxi is closer. The whole Marseille has various heights and lows. ibis is mainly soundproofed. The sound of other neighbors closing the door is not loud outside the window. Breakfast is really good at this price hotel.
