although very beautiful, the little villa huts where moldy and musty. air quality very poor. i tried to sleep on the couch as not to disturb my fiance with my coughing and had bugs crawling all over me, including ants and other winged critters.

UPDATE - following my below review on my initial experience the manager sought me out to apologise and to resolve the issue regarding my room. I was shown the bungalow and an alternative hotel room. The bungalow was cute and if I was travelling as a couple it probably would have been my preferred option. As a solo traveler the hotel room seemed more appealing. It was also very much appreciated to get a heartfelt apology. An additional note regarding breakfast; if you are looking to avoid carbs (not easy in Italy anyway) then fruit and yogurt are really your options (they had a bowl of boiled eggs but that didn’t appeal) I wouldn’t want an English breakfast (I don’t have those in England!) but it really was just rolls and pastries (which did look delicious) My first night here was a disappointment. I was given a box room with a fold out bed (see pics) when I had actually booked a deluxe bungalow. I was told in a very nonchalant way that they were fully booked and there was plumbing issues with the bungalow. It’s a beautiful place for a wedding and wouldn’t begrudge anyone getting married but the music and party was very close to my room and very loud. Dinner was challenging as I don’t eat seafood so had limited options and as mentioned before; trying not to overload on carbs. The menu is heavily seafood based, which I assume is normal for the area, so ordered a salad and was given a bowl of chopped iceberg lettuce

I booked at deluxe bungalow but on arrival was shown to a box room with a fold out sofa bed and was told the bungalows were fully booked! No compensation or even an offer of a complementary treatment or bottle of something, not even an apology. I was told this was a superior room too; one can only speculate on the horrors of a standard room. There was a wedding going on, great place to get married for sure it’s just the guests staying that suffer with noise and music into the early hours. If you don’t like seafood then the restaurant is a waste of time. I ordered a salad a literally got a bowl of iceberg lettuce! I’ve stayed in suites in Chelsea for the same cost as here just as a comparison.

The hotel and gardens are stunning , a wedding paradise we stayed for 5 nights and there was a wedding or party every night, in all honesty although quite loud it didn’t disturb us. We were in a “deluxe bungalow” which was more like a teletubbie house it was very very basic with no where to put anything we were disappointed. The hotel location is not close to anything we didn’t have a car and so relied on hotel shuttle bus to get around €30 round trip to the centre and € 50 round trip to the beach they added another € 30 on when another couple shared the shuttle bus with us.Advice to check your hotel bill before checking out because the driver took payment but hotel had also charged it to our bill we didn’t realise until we were on the way to the airport. You are also charged for water which we thought was complementary . The pool does require you to wear a swim cap which is €2.5 and the life guard is a stickler for it! The staff were very helpful and very friendly and the breakfast was really good with a great assortment of pastries, cakes and rolls. All in all a beautiful hotel but wouldn’t go again it’s to far out.

Mixed feelings: two completely different types of accommodations in a single structure, make sure you chose what suits you. Upon entering you feel as if you are in a beautiful restored villa (or nice warehouse with villa). The reception is very nice with a peculiar stalagmite desk. The rooms and public areas are very nice and full of history. As an alternative you are offered some igloo (in Marsala??) shaped bungalows that are extremely basic. The garden is lush and there is a nice swimming pool. Excellent breakfast with tantalizing local products.

We stayed in the ‘pods’ which are away from the main hotel area. They were clean, very basic, the beds were a bit firm. There was also a really annoyingly bright light from the aircon which was off putting and disturbed my sleep. On two nights they had big parties on and the music and singing went on after midnight. Now I don’t resent them their joy but they could have explained this might be the situation and warned us. It made it really difficult to sleep. The outdoor pool was nice. You have to wear a swimming cap to go in - they are available for a few euros at reception or just bring your own. Oddly, you also have to pay for towels by the pool. I didn’t eat at their restaurant but others said it was good. Breakfast was a great spread - loads of pastries, eggs, sandwiches. Really nice.

What an awesome place. Beautiful old quirky villa on the hill above Alba, about a 15/20 minute walk from town. Breakfast was so nice with fresh fruit and homemade jams. My girlfriend adored her eggs with truffles and Parmesan fondue. What is stand out, and I mean on the money, is the service. From picking fruits for us from the trees to dropping us in town for free to all the tips for places to visit and genuine interest and kindness… honestly Fabrizio, Lucy and the team are absolutely fabulous! If you’re in Alba I recommend this place!
