I was sharing with a friend. In order to use the shower we had to climb in and out of a jacuzzi, which was higher than my bath at home, so with difficulty. I don't know how anyone could think that this was appropriate for 2 women in thir 70s! We asked for a room change, via our tour manager, who spoke for us, but the hotel was full. During our stay we saw new guests arriving, so rooms must have been vacated. The jacuzzi was very slippery. Our first two requests for a rubber bath mat were ignored. The third time we asked we were told to put a towel down inside the jacuzzi. There was no mirror in the bedroom so, if one of us was in the bathroom, there was not much that the other could do towards getting ready. The light in the passageway leading to our room did not work at night when it was very dark, but we could switch it on during the day. We did not report this, being too concerned about safety in the bathroom. Not enough was done to help us, The public rooms and pool area were pleasant. Breakfast average. Breakfast staff friendly.

I loved my stay at Hotel Marana. The staff were super friendly and so helpful and accommodated our every request. We initially only got 1 nights stay and they accommodated us for a 4 night stay even though they were fully booked. They made a plan. Breakfast was great and the location is amazing. Short walk to the beach with dedicated area for hotel guests. The dinner was very nice too. Rooms are clean and everything you need. The train station is across the road if you would like to explore.

I was so disappointed with this hotel and the overall experience. Booked in January 2023 as a 60th birthday present for my mum and 40th for my friend. I wanted the experience to be special, I booked a suite. Prior to booking and post booking I emailed a few times to ensure we would get 3 single beds. After weeks of email exchanges and a phone call from the reception manager (unable to use name in reviews) I was promised 3 single beds. I emphasized the importance of having 3 comfortable single beds and NOT sofa bed. Upon arrival, the experience stared off really bad, this hotel is NOTHING like the luxury posts and images they post on Instagram. Checked in! think budget hotel experience… this is what we received. I waited until the next morning to speak with the reception manager, explained the situation and my disappointment that she had been dishonest in our email exchanges and phone call. She replied with ‘I have a single bed like that sofa at home, what is your problem’. I was shocked, at the response. I asked for her to make sure there was 3 single beds…. See pictures of what they did next. After returning from a day of exploring one entered the room to find they had placed a small metal frame and mattress and called this a single bed. It reminded me of an evacuation centre emergency bed. I returned downstairs to speak with the reception manager to be encountered with other shouting guests complaining about there rooms etc. at this point I was becoming worried about ruining the whole holiday, I approached the manager and explained they had made it worse . Her response ‘it’s your problem sir, not mine’. I said ‘ok’ I’ll deal with this when I return and email my complaint ‘do what you want, her response’. Since being back, I have emailed 3+ times, said manager ignores the email. Reception team refuse to connect my call to her. Central reservations team state they have escalated it to the owner of the hotel which I still have no response from. SAFETY: Room key has your room number and hotel name printed on it If you lose this key and don’t realise, you can only imagine SUITE: basic 2 single beds joined together 1 sofa bed, making it extremely uncomfortable Towels are from a hotel called ‘Sporting’ very warn - seems to be the rejects or outdated stuff from the 5 star hotel Bathroom bath gel/handwash not topped up Toilet brush - disgusting, never cleaned or changed See pictures Mini bar: 1 Coca Cola 1 orange juice See pictures Restaurant/breakfast: Poor quality Eggs scrambled or fried (never topped up) Lack of fruit Service poor, asking a question is an inconvenience Beach towels: Sporting hotel branded - you can only change it after 3 days LATE check-out: 100€ to check out at 5pm and 80€ for a 3pm considering the disappointment and failure to provide a 4-star service this could have been the minimum they could have offered When using curtesy facilities after check-out, we were allowed to use the shower room. Hotel Marana was a nightmare. They did not provide the porterage for which we had paid. Our cases were unloaded from the coach and left in the car park. In my room the large showerhead had not been cleaned for months and therefore little water came out of it. The TV and telephone also didn't work. The showerhead and TV were sorted before I went to bed on the first night. The next morning there was no hot or cold water. I went downstairs in my nightie as I was unable to call them, to be told that the whole hotel had no water. I again reported my phone was not working. Later that afternoon returning to the hotel I found an infestation of black insects in the bathroom. After killing 20+ I went down to reception, as the phone still didn't work, and made another complaint. The staff member came up to the room with me and said the room would be sprayed. She picked up the receiver on the telephone and announced "it doesn't work!" That evening the telephone was replaced. I killed a further 15 or so insects that evening. By this time they were spreading into the bedroom. The next morning, the day we were leaving, the bathroom was sprayed. After that I killed another 2 but the problem seemed to abate. A toothbrush and paste had been left in the bathroom by a previous client and remained there the duration. At no point did I receive an apology. In general terms there was no mirror in the room, only an above waist height one in the bathroom. The only electric points clearly visible were in the bathroom! To charge any equipment it required moving bedside tables to get to a plug point. The wardrobe was not long enough to hang any trousers or dresses. There was no chair in the room. The balcony when seated you could not see over as the brick wall was so high. The bed was comfortable. The one dinner buffet I had was very good. Breakfast buffet was basic. When we left I didn't see any point in using their porterage to return my case to the car park.

It was booked as part of an organised tour but I loved this hotel. It was modern, airy and well laid out with outside, open walkways rather than interior, dingy corridors. It was relatively small and well staffed with a superb buffet dinner and breakfast. Our room was probably the smallest but was a good size with a small balcony and one of the nicest bathrooms ever! It was huge with a double shower at one end, a wash basin with a huge worktop for storage in the middle, a loo, a bidet and then a spa bath with a removable shower head at the other end. Just perfect. We only had two nights to enjoy it though. It's a short walk through to the beach and also up the road to the small marina, a few eateries and the supermarket.

Extremely helpful reception, and the bar manager made our trip ( grazie Marco). The whole staff was very attentive and friendly. Great pool and beach with beds and beach umbrellas included. Would definitely recommend it. Great air conditioning.

This is worse than a Holiday Inn and travelers expecting any form of civility and service should avoid this hotel. We stayed here for 3 nights and it was a nightmare. My first night I requested for an extra pillow and they outright refused to give me one. For dinner when I went to the one and only restaurant they said they can’t give any dinner —- this is to a guest and the hotels only restaurant. My second day when I requested for a taxi no taxis are available get but when a Caucasian, standing behind me, requested a taxi — one magically appeared. The people in the reception are not only outright liars but also have such disdain for serving non-whites I almost felt like I travelled back to time to a Mussolini days. The management is extremely loose and there is no chain of command. The restaurant staff hate working in the hotel and it shows by the service they provide. One of the wait staff, when I requested for cold still water instead of sparkling warm water that she had brought, gave such a disgusting look that it felt like she was going to reach across the table and beat me up. Disgusting, horrible and shameless people who shouldn’t be allowed to be in the hospitality service. On my last night again they refused to take a booking for the restaurant. A friend had to call the manager to get food for me and my family of 3 kids. Avoid this hotel at all costs. Even a homeless person has more civility, respect and kindness than the management and the people who run this hotel. Disgusting people who should be banned from the hospitality industry. SHAME ON YOU AND THIS PLACE THAT YOU LURE TOURISTS TO. Regards, Khalid Islam July 26-29, 2022
