No 42 by GuestHouse, Margate

A fantastic find! Booked this hotel last minute as an alternative to a cancelled trip, and we were not disappointed, treated ourselves to one of the lookout suites and it was beautiful, clean, spacious, fantastic sea view and the free standing bath with accompanying toiletries is delightful! Will definitely been returning. We opted for the sunday lunch in the hotel restaurant (Pearly Cow) and it was delicious, reasonably priced and the staff were extremely attentive and lovely! We had a perfect stay, and even though there was a small issue during our time at 42 it was handled perfectly by the staff, mistakes happen its how they are handled that matters!

Well what cant I say about my experience at No.42 by GuestHouse. I stay away for business at least twice a week and this is with out doubt the best hotel that I have stayed in in 2024. I will start by mentioning the great service delivered by the staff. They were so friendly and went out of their way to ensure that I had a lovely stay. The staff went above and beyond at this quirky boutique hotel. The quality of the food was excellent and again a great service. My room was absolutely beautiful with finishing touches that I have not seen before. There was a record player in the room with albums to choose from. There was also a old fashioned radio that was on when you arrived in the room. The quality of the bed linen and towels was exceptional. There was also extra touches a beautiful free standing bath with beautiful body lotions etc. Robe and slippers. I had the best night sleep and I do not normally sleep well whilst away. On my floor outside in the hall way they also had a Candy station where you could help yourself to old fashioned sweets, cookies and fruit. There was a fridge with different flavoured waters. They also have a roof top bar which I didnt visit on this occasion. Breakfast again had the best local produce and was made to order not a buffet. I also needed a taxi the next morning which was ordered by the front desk and arrived within 5 minutes. Thank You so much to all the staff. I can not wait to come here again next year.

first bad review i’ve ever felt compelled to leave bright fire exit light in room 6, had to hang 2 towels over a door to try to block out the light so i could sleep, bottom photo is taken from in bed at 4am when I woke up (again) unbearably hot and window door did not open despite almost pulling it off its hinges, so we could not cool down if we tried, temp control panel did nothing to save us, even contemplated taking a cold shower at 4am… flashing light on the smoke alarm right above the bed, just to seal the deal very disappointed, couldn’t sleep properly for 2 nights rest of the place is great, but what good is that when you can’t sleep! I think we may have been unlucky with the room we were given having seen other glowing reviews…

Loved my stay here! The hotel is gorgeous, I don't think I'd stay anywhere else in Margate. It's a gem! The staff were super friendly, the bedrooms were supherb I was surprised at how spacious the rooms are. The Wildsmith products in the bathroom were so good, I also got a complimentary spa kit filled with more luxury products which I'm still enjoying post trip. On my floor, outside my room was a free pantry which had an array of sweets and treats.. it was literally a dream! I went on a solo trip, needed some time away from the city and this was the perfect retreat. From the cocktail on arrival to the amazing spa treatments downstairs it's hard to pick my favourite moment from my stay. I would recommend getting the breakfast, the view from the restaurant is a so lovely, it faces the sea and their French toast is delicious. Also speaking of the sea the hotel is seconds away from the seaside, it's a great location for getting around the town.

This really was a glorious break and No 42 guesthouse was the plushest most delightful spot from which to enjoy Margate. From the enormous comfy bed to the roll top bath and bath salts, the record player and vinyl and of course the pantry. Loved every minute and can’t wait to return.

Margate is such a quirky, vibrant place with a number of exceptional dining options and our stay at 42 made our visit perfect. The hotel is located directly opposite a lovely beach; the rooms are spacious and beautifully appointed ; the staff could NOT be more charming and accommodating. We will definitely be back.
