This is basically a pub that has rooms to rent. There are no staff available outside pub hours and then it is only bar staff. The room and ensuit bathroom were clean, but bed was uncomfortable, one pillow each, which were old and very thin. When I asked for extra pillows at the bar, they didn't understand and told me to try later. Later, in the evening, at the bar I was told the cupboard was now locked. The bar staff took the initiative and borrowed two pillows from an empty room. I had trouble with the shower but had to wait until next day to mention the problem. But nobody was around, no staff at all. We didn't sleep well because of banging doors. The door closers had to be set to fast because the doors stuck, making it very difficult to open. It says on this site that breakfast is provided. No it isn't. I cannot believe all the rave reviews, complimenting the hosts, the food, the comfort. I can only assume that they are fake. The same goes for the visitors book, all the same handwriting. I would NEVER recommend this place to anyone.

We had two rooms for one night. The staff were very friendly and made us feel welcome. We had lunch on the Sunday and breakfast (included in room cost) on the Monday, both were okay, not gourmet, but acceptable. Free parking and a side entrance for late night access were handy. The rooms were very basic and the cost reflected this. I would use this place again

Renny really looked after us for our 50th anniversary of turning professional in August 1964. Unfortunately, only three of the six band members could attend, but the hotel treated us magnificently. The food was good, the room two of us had was excellent (the other members and their friends stayed elsewhere) and all the staff polite and aware of what was happening. It was a great weekend, topped off with a superb Sunday roast! Thanks, folks - we won't hesitate to recommend you!

The lady behind the bar on Wednesday evening was so rude ... not a hello or a thankyou... would rather walk into westgate and get a beer... if you can't be polite and smile then get another job ... it's a shame because the owners a so polite ... need to know what day the lady with the dark hair works to make sure we avoid the place

Stayed here with a friend for a walking weekend trip. It's a cosy family run pub with rooms above which makes for a more personalable experience . It is in a great location and a quiet place to lay your head after a day's walking. The food choice is excellent and freshly cooked by the lovely Judy who gave us the warmest welcome. A full breakfast menu is included; it was delicious. They serve Thai food, British food and traditional puddings all freshly cooked.. Food is excellent. It's just a short walk from the beach. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again. Lorraine

The Hussar is a welcoming pub that offers a good value Sunday lunch. It’s good, honest food. Portions of beef, pork and chicken are generous. We were provided with plenty of veg and a good-sized Yorkshire pudding each. The crackling that came with my pork was outstanding. Excellent value for £13.95. You would need to be very hungry to have both a starter and a dessert as well.

Friendly hosts but sadly not a place to stay if you want to get some rest. I could hear the Bingo in the pub loud and clear from my room. When I thought it was over, very loud music started and a DJ speaking in the microphone. Insulation is terrible so I could also hear the noises from the family with 4 children staying at the room next door. Doors banging, people screaming and singing all the way up until 23:30. Then the loud music finally stopped but I was unable to sleep until the noise finally stopped around 00:30.

Spent one night here for a concert at dreamland. Fab welcome. Room clean & tidy, towels etc supplied. Comfy bed. Shower brilliant. Would totally recommend this pub for an overnight stay.
