Golden Coast Hotel & Bungalows - All Inclusive

Agios Panteleimon|6.32km from Elliniko Institouto Athlitismou
Chose this location as we wanted to visit Athens and Marathon. Booked one week with EasyJet and paid £100 for taxi transfers to and from hotel and airport. All inclusive holiday and couldn’t fault the food apart from the usual problem of servery food, heat. Local drinks included were as expected. Room in main hotel was comfortable and serviced daily. Lifts worked well. Did some research and decide to book a taxi to take us into Athens. Cost 100 Euros return, booked for 07.15 to return at 16.30. Dropped off and picked up at the Acropolis. Took 55 mins both ways. Can go by local bus and metro for much cheaper but will not get you there until much later when the queue is half a mile long! We were fortunate that the day we visited was a museum day and all entrances were free. Worth checking if any of these dates coincide with your holiday. Otherwise 20 Euros each just for Parthenon People who had pre booked on the internet or cruise trip did not get refunds. Paid 20 Euros each for hop on/off bus. Spent most of the time stuck in traffic. Would recommend walking. Paid 12 Euros for a taxi to Marathon race museum. Only 2 Euros each. Museum is large and very interesting. Then taxi to Marathon beach 8 Euros and walk back along the beach to the hotel. From hotel beach gate exit turning left takes you to Marathon beach, 30 mins walk. Turning right takes you to Nea Makri harbour, 50 mins walk. Hope this information is helpful, enjoy your holiday 🌞

Marathon Beach Resort

Nea Makri|7.38km from Adamantios Korais Square
We stayed in this hotel for two nights at the end of our roundtrip on the Greek mainland. The hotel and its grounds are good looking but unfortunately a lot of things went wrong during our short stay. We were very happy with the first room we got. This room was on the highest floor with a good view on the pool and the sea. After we returned from dinner the air conditioning in the room didn’t work anymore. Because of this the room temperature quickly rose to 30 degrees Celsius. We have been to the reception about this issue three times. A man came along our room two times and just looked at it but nothing was done. At 03.00h we were not able to sleep anymore because of the heat and humidity. The reception gave us the keys for an other room in a huge flat building nearby. This room only had a double bed but no furniture because it was still under renovation. After a short night in this room we went back to the reception in the morning. The lady who was on duty understood our problems and arranged an upgrade to a suite for our second night. This room with a small garden was perfect. Since we were very tired we decided to stay at the pool for the day. Unfortunately at about 12.00h a large group of local kids (15 at least) came into the pool area. They took over the pool immediately. They jumped into the pool constantly, even when this was forbidden by the pool rules. They also were screaming and yelling all the time. This went on till 19.00h and destroyed the pleasure of many hotel guests. We have been to the reception to complain about this but nothing was done about it. Nobody in the hotel took responsibility for anything. This was the case with our broken air conditioning (which had happened many times before as we heard) and also with the group of kids who illegally invaded the pool area. There seems to be a lack of good management at this hotel. It looks like they don’t care about the well being of the guest but only about making money. The good thing was the self service breakfast which was served at the pool and had enough variety.
