Sea Dell Motel - Marathon

First off - is this a luxury, high end place; does it have all the updates - no. But they never claimed to be. It is a simple comfortable place to stay in the keys if you don't want to spend a fortune. We simple needed a place to get a good nights rest each evening after spending the day in Key West. Our room was clean, the bed was comfortable, the pool was vey nice and BEST OF ALL, the front desk was very friendly and helpful. Extra pillows - no problem. Need ice - left by the door in a cooler for when we got back to the room.

Had a fabulous stay here recently. Rooms and motel are a tad dated but given the location, facilities, pool, cleanliness and value for money the Sea Dell Motel is an ideal base for touring The Keys. I found the accommodations very comfortable although the towels and pillows weren't my favourite. The hotel has a lovely pool, ice machine, communal BBQs, outdoor dining areas and fantastic AC. Staff we met were very obliging. The motel is very close to Publix, selection of fast food and regular restaurants. Sombrero Beach and Seven Mile Bridge are a short drive away and Bahia Honda and Key West is a lovely day trip.

I stayed at the Sea Dell from for five nights in late March. This is not a fancy hotel but it does the job. Its location on US-1 in Marathon is great, with plenty of businesses within a mile, and only an hour drive to Key West. I was in Room 12 and it had what I needed: a king bed, excellent AC and wifi, and it was quiet. You park at your door. The pool is lit and you can use it 24 hours. I sat by it late at night every night to get work done on-line. They have a washer and dryer which worked fine. They have no breakfast and the front desk closes at 8 pm. You get what you pay for. I paid $149 a night during spring break time, and it was worth it. Other hotels wanted double or more. I had no bugs in my room. It was clean. I will be back.

I love this motel! Usually, I only care about the bed & the shower as I am not in the room long enough to care about anything else. But this trip - I hardly left the room - I just needed rest! SLEEP! And this was the perfect place for it! Quiet, peaceful - comfortable - so much so that we extended the stay for an extra night! The front desk clerk was a gem and made arrangements so we did not have to switch rooms! I slept for 2 straight days I think - I wanted to get into the pool, but was just too comfy to get out of bed - such a great motel. Would stay there again! Oh - and the shower - 5 Stars! Good water pressure and I love the shelf in the shower stall! Thank you to the staff for a great stay!

We checked in a little early and the room had obviously just been cleaned with a very strong smelling cleaner. Luckily we had wandering to do while it aired out. The gentleman at the front desk had lots of information to share about local eateries and we found his reviews to be spot on! Parking was very close to our door and since we were on motorcycles, that was important to us. We were just a short ride from the Seven Mile Bridge, Turtle Hospital and Sombrero Beach, and were able to walk to a nature center, and Publix for necessities. Chickens were present but not intrusive. Loved the vintage feel and the TV channel card on display that explained how to make a phone call on the nonexistent room phone :). Would stay here again!!

This motel is dated and needs some work but it is clean! The pool was also clean but is set right at the front of the motel near the road. There are bushes there though so it is private. It sets right on route 1 so it’s a little noisy. It did the job for us as we only spent one night there. If you need something cheap and just a quick place to stay it will do the job.
