This is not my first time to book in a Hop Inn Hotel, but this is the first time that a problem was encountered with my booking. I booked a standard double room with a description of 1 queen bed with SEA VIEW. I chose this room because of the “sea view” over another room a little cheaper but without a window with the view of Mla bay.
Upon arrival, hotel staff gave us a room at the 3/f. I immediately checked our window. The view was that of the hotel carpark. So I went back to front desk and asked for a room with a sea view. The staff then informed me that there was an error in the description of the room that I booked. That there is an additional charge for a room with a sea view. So I showed her my reservation and asked that they honor what I reserved, regardless of the description error they were claiming. After consulting with someone from the other room, maybe her supervisor, the staff graciously told me that they will give us a room with a sea view. My husband and I waited for almost an hour, though, for our room to be prepared. But it was ok. In addition, they informed us that we can checkout until 1pm of the following day, free of charge, as their way of making it up for letting us wait for our room. But since we planned on checking out early, I asked for 2 extra pillows instead. Because we saw there was only one pillow each for 2 occupants. And my husband and I sleep with 2 pillows each. The gave us my request. Now, this is customer service. Kudos to the staff of Hop Inn Ermita. They were gracious, accommodating and sensitive to the needs of their clients. What I thought started as a bad check in experience turned out quite well. Thank you so much.
The room given to us was at the 4/f with a partial view of the sea. That was ok. And we were appeased.
