Iberostar Waves Cala Domingos All Inclusive

We had a fantastic stay. We are unsure at first because it is a family friendly resort and having to deal with noisy kids. The resort is very spacious and the bungalows allow privacy and a quiet stay. The resort has amazing service and friendly staff. Food is also great with quality ingredients and daily variations. Nice to sample Spanish cuisine and there is also nightly themes to offer more food choices. Bar offerings is great with both local and international brands. Another good thing is the resort’s sustainability credentials. The resort offers good value for money for both couples and families.

This hotel was really really lovely, there were just a few things that stopped it being perfect. First of all the positives: The whole place feels very new and very clean. It all feels very luxurious and exclusive. The reception, restaurants, pools and villas are all beautiful. The staff are lovely, very friendly and seem eager to help. The restaurant staff are very attentive. The glass of cava whilst checking in was very welcome. The golf carts to get you around are great - I loved them. The room was spacious, plenty of wardrobe space and the aircon worked a treat. Food was delicious. Adults only pool. They man the pools, if your towel is on the sun loungers longer than 45 mins they are removed - stops any hogging of loungers early in the morning or throughout the day. Very family friendly, lots of babies whilst I was there. Beach at the bottom of the resort. And the bits that mean it isn’t quite perfect: The room I stayed in was an upgrade, but the bathroom didn’t have a proper door. This meant that every time someone went to the toilet you could hear, and smell, everything. The room doesn’t really have a changing area. I was on holiday with a friend, we could have done with a curtain or a door on the bathroom to be able to change etc. The rooms have big mirrors so its tricky to get changed without revealing all to everyone. Whilst there is a large selection of food for meat eaters and vegetarians, they had vegan bolognaise every night. Breakfast was even more limited. Very disappointing. Whilst they have an adults only pool with a member of staff there, they didn’t stop people bringing their young children into the pool. Whilst it wasn’t too much of a problem when I was there as it was mainly babies, I would hope in school holidays they would police it better to stop the pool being full of older children. There were often flies on the food. They could do with fly nets on the doors or net cloches over some of the food.

The hotel environment was perfect for relaxation. I was particularly impressed by the tranquil atmosphere that seemed to envelop every corner of the property. Every interaction was met with a smile, and they went above and beyond to ensure I was comfortable and had everything I needed.

Positives Superior Beach level bungalow The room was spacious and well placed for evening entertainment, a quiet pool, gym, and shop. Buggy all day for get around the hotel and it is very hilly. Mexican restaurant by entertainment area was tasty. Cons The room was not as clean as we expected. Then it wasn't cleaned for the second day. When we approached management, it was finally cleaned properly on the 3rd day of our very short break. In fact, it smelled and was cleaner than we arrived. Pool areas are dirty. Maybe the main pool is better maintained than the deep pool. The deep pool area is disgusting. The tables and chairs are not collected at night, and the whole area is cleaned like in other hotels. Entertainment bar The floor is dirty and never cleaned around the sofa areas. A glass broke the night we arrived. The small shard of glass was still there 3 nights into the holiday. Dirty glasses left everywhere most evenings. There was still a couple there the next day. The food in the snack bar by deep pool is left out in the open. U have pigeons, mosquitos, and flies, all helping themselves. Probably the worst hotel I've stayed in.

Ok so this review is almost a year overdue… I wasnt sure about doing a 4* but really wanted something that had a great offering for kids and this definitely did that. At first the resort may seem overwhelming as it’s huge and a long walk from one end to the other however the frequent travel buggies help with getting up and down. The rooms are bungalows spread across the resort but we’re much smaller than I expected, although nice, modern and clean. The only problem I experienced were the bugs. The resort should look into some sort of insect repellent for the rooms or maybe a draft stopper under the door as that’s where they came from. The wifi was great! One of the best I’ve had in a hotel/ resort and was available throughout. The hotel channel on the tv was also a great guide to the day and night entertainment available at the resort which was 10/10. The movie night on the beach was special! The all inclusive doesn’t stop at the restaurants and snack bars. Occasionally staff have ice cream and fruits on offer by the poolside. The all inclusive restaurant is your usual canteen style but there is a nicer a la carte with amazing views that can be booked free of charge. The kids club was great! - They know how to make the kids feel special, the kids were even gifted a tshirt at the end of their stay. I liked that the kids club catered to both young and older kids with separate activities. Lots for them to do across the resort and even a trip to the beach. They were really proactive in engaging the kids to participate in all activities and I felt it was extremely safe. This for me is the best part of the resort. Super ideal for families. Overall it was a significantly pleasurable stay!

Lovely hotel, lovely staff, excellent value for all inclusive with decent cocktails and food as well as included activities like mini golf, tennis, ping pong, exercise classes and entertainment. Short walk to the beach. The site is quite large and hilly but if you don’t fancy walking there were regular golf carts that would run you up and down, never waited more than 5 mins for an available one!
