We drove all the way from London to WHATLEY MANOR, the location is really rural bit quiet. IT IS A VERY BEAUTIFUL MANOR SINCE 1929. We booked a suite room and upgraded to extra single bed for my son and cost 150£, which is considered very expensive. We booked for 2 nights and it cost us 1500£, [ breakfast included ] in my opinion is very pricey for this location. I think their selling points are spa, sauna, thermal room , hydro pool but for Asian , it is too common for us.The beds are very comfortable, room is very spacious and cozy, provide good quality amenities. They have really beautiful garden good for walking and reading books. Beside price, everything is good.

A wonderful, relaxing stay and it won’t be our last. We enjoyed and appreciated an upgrade and the room and bed was wonderful. The spa is one of the best and we were lucky with the weather. I was although underwhelmed with the lack of extras in the changing room of a high end spa (cotton buds etc) and overwhelmed with the row of Dyson hairdryers! I did feel that the toasted sandwich lunch could have been a bit extra for the cost (just had 3 curly leaves). The only disappointment was our evening meal, where the male staff member kept trying to remove ours and other guests plates before we had finished our tapas style dishes. He was very closely watching over our close tables and it all felt a bit uncomfortable for most of the meal…. He may have been in training, so hopefully this will be addressed. This won’t put us off a return visit to this beautiful hotel

Whatley manor We have stayed at this luxury hotel before and it was a very pleasant stay. So after some health issues we decided to spend 2 nights here as a treat and a relaxing time in a Junior Suite We arrived and were shown to our room which seemed very pleasant although very cold. On ringing reception to ask about the heating we were told that one of the 2 large radiators in our room wasn't working and after investigation was further told a new radiator has to be 'made' for the room! Fine in the summer but not when the temperature outside is very cold. We ended up with 2 electric heaters in the room to compensate. Not very high end! No offer of a room change either. NB: Noticed a review from Feb 24 saying heating in this room did not work! Must take a long time to make a new radiator! Why let a junior suite room of £600 per night with inadequate heating? No apology by management who were notable by their absence. The room was pleasant but dated with a small bathroom with a shower cubicle that leaked! Also no turndown service which was a surprise at a 5 star pricey hotel. The bed was very comfortable though. Another surprise was a 10% service charge added to our bill including accommodation! And after ordering two cocktails at £20 each we were charged £4 for crisps!? Seriously? I'd call that penny pinching. We ate at Greys twice. Sunday lunch food was excellent. However the service was shocking. At a high end restaurant should we really have to look after ourselves - no wine or water poured and had to ask for our table to be cleared and catch a waiter/waitresses eye for service. Most staff were not engaged (some just miserable) even though they didn't seem that busy. Our second meal the next day - the staff were a complete contrast. Attentive and pleasant. And professional. USP ports needed, room needs a refurb and consistency in service required. On a positive note the gardens are fabulous and will be stunning during the summer time. Sadly we felt things weren't quite right with this stay at WM. You pay high prices you expect a certain standard.

Whatley Manor is pure indulgence from start to finish. This luxurious hotel, spa, and two-Michelin-starred restaurant, offers an unforgettable experience that blends elegance, comfort, and artistry in every detail. The 18th-century manor is surrounded by immaculate gardens, orchards, and a charming vegetable patch that supplies the kitchen. The grounds alone are worth a visit, changing beautifully with the seasons and offering peaceful walks at any time of year. The dining experience is absolutely world-class. Every dish is a masterpiece, bursting with flavour, balance, and creativity. The tasting menus showcase the very best of seasonal and local produce, with impeccable presentation. The service is faultless — attentive without being intrusive, and delivered with real warmth and passion for hospitality. Rooms are individually styled, luxurious, and full of character. Thoughtful touches, like homemade treats and fresh flowers, make the stay feel incredibly personal and special. The Spa is a personal favorite, the ultimate in relaxation. Whatley is not just a place to eat or sleep — it’s a full sensory experience, crafted with love and expertise. Whether you're celebrating a special occasion or simply treating yourself, it’s an unforgettable destination that leaves you already planning your next visit.

We visited Whatley Manor on a Sunday night for a last minute getaway. The hotel is very well furnished and has beautiful gardens and common rooms which would certainly warrant with a 5-star review. The two Michelin-star restaurant 'The Dining Room' was truly excellent food and well worth going our of your way to visit (if you enjoy the French-style long and luxerious dinner. As there are so many reviews on here pointing out excellent things, so I will point out a couple of things that let the hotel down: The hotel rooms themselves were a little disappointing. We were offered a free upgrade to "Superior", and the room was pleasant with a large bed, but I have certainly stayed in nicer, grander rooms in similar quality hotels. Take, for example, the television. It was an old model - not a flatscreen - which was obviously state-of-the-art 10 years ago when the hotel was opened, but given how technology has moved on, I would have expected this to have been updated. You may well ask why we would go away to watch television (it was Wimbledon Men's final day) - so perhaps this isn't a big point, but I think it is indicative of the hotel just feeling like it could do with a spruce up after being open for 10 years. The spa was lovely and well-appointed. There were a couple of things that let it down. On the first day, one of the steam rooms was not working, and one of the two "feature" showers was not working. Again, this is not a big point, but when you pay as much as you do to stay somewhere like Whatley Manor, you expect perfection. On the second day, there was construction taking place on the patio outside the spa. This was noisy and disruptive, and, had we been staying that day, I think would have seriously taken away from the enjoyment of the hotel. Of course they need to maintain the spa, but again, I think they could do with shutting the hotel for a couple of weeks in an upcoming off-season and giving it a good refurb, rather than disturbing guests

The food was amazing and the staff was even better. Ask for Harry in the dining room. He made our visit extra memorable. The grounds were beautiful and great for an evening or morning stroll.
