The Service at the Grand Hotel was just impeccable. Such nice people, hosting with humour and class that it made the meal a meal to remember. The food was top class - cooked to perfection and presented in a classy manner - interesting and bold choices on the menu made the meal memorable. The Sommelier was great - knowledgable and guided us to local wines he was proud to recommend (Chinon as it happened). The Maitre D was just the nicest man - arranging for one if his staff to drive us home in her tiny car two by two as she couldn’t fit us all in when the local taxi company couldn’t pick us up - just above and beyond and stunning hosting.

It was our first time at the Grand Hotel. We stayed at the hotel on our way to catch the ferry from
Caen to the UK. The location is very peaceful next to the Solesmes Abbey. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the restaurant was of a high quality. Our superior room had a balcony and air con and was spacious. Our little border terrier, Lola, was made very welcome and we found a lovely walk next to the river behind the Abbey.
We will definitely come back.

A perfect small hotel with delightful rooms, beautiful cuisine, friendly staff and a delightful location. Enjoy the peace and quiet and pleasant strolls alongside the river Sarthe. Dogs are welcome too.

We stopped for one night as part of an extended trip because the restaurant was open on a Monday, It's in a small village with not much there. We were upgraded to a suite and it was quite nice but a little tired. The meal in the restaurant was very good.

The room was just fine. I seem to have been upgraded, having booked the last room that night.
On the other hand, the restaurant was more than disappointing, I had been told that the restaurant was full when it was empty, I was even isolated, the service lasted almost 2 1/2 hours for a meal that did not require a special preparation...

Nous avons été très bien accueillis. Nous avons pris une chambre supérieure qui a la climatisation et nous étions au calme vers le jardin. La chambre était très bien agencée, une double porte pour ne pas entendre le couloir. Situation idéale pour visiter l’abbaye qui est en face. Parking privé dans l’enceinte de l’hôtel. Une petite amélioration pourrait être faite: ajouter une bouilloire dans la chambre.
