Villa Mare Monte ApartHotel

We are currently staying at Villa Mare Monte, what a find. Beautiful location close to the Old town. The staff are so lovely nothing too much trouble , very friendly and accomodating . The rooms are spotless and bedding , towels etc are changed frequently. The pool area is beautiful and you can watch the goats on the mountain. I would say this is a gem of a find. We are on a last day of staying at this lovely, small and peaceful hotel. We’ve been here 2 weeks, the rooms are very clean and quiet, ours has hillside views at the front where you can spot the goats! From our balcony at the back we had a lovely sea view. The pool and bar areas are spotless and again, very peaceful and relaxing, we also enjoyed the crazy golf! Great stay and would definitely return.

What can I say about our holiday in Crete, we stayed at the mare monte, run excellently by Kourla and her team. The apartments and grounds are kept very clean, the staff are amazing nothing was too much trouble. I recommend Katerina’s coffees, lovely buffet breakfast which consists of a lot of fresh fruit grown at the villa itself, local bakery’s etc. Great sea and Mountain View’s, excellently run by the whole team, I couldn’t recommend enough. Our stay here was absolutely fantastic, if I could give more stars I would, thank you to all the team for making our family holiday so special

The small family run villa complex is a wonderful place to relax and still be walking/strolling distance to old and new town to enjoy a little of Cretian life. The friendliness and helpfulness of the owners and staff was lovely. A very welcoming and inclusive group of people, each with their own life stories. We really enjoyed getting to know the staff and their thoughts on the world in the two weeks we were there. Something that's difficult to do in bigger places. The owners and the staff are completely focused on their visitors wants and needs. The staff were always eager to offer everything they can to make our stay even more comfortable and relaxing. We highly recommend Villa Mare Monte for an outstanding Crete experience. We look forward to visiting again in the future. Simon and Louise.

⚠Unfortunately I am hugely disappointed to be leaving such a low review after our disturbing experience. I am certain Villa Mare Monte will not be surprised by this review and I shall be sharing this same review on all rating platforms regarding this matter for awareness. Initially all was fine and well during our stay here and we were having a blissful time and appreciating the generous hospitality and warm welcoming. However on our last day the police were called due to a female guest in our group being inappropriately approached in the outdoor communal toilets by a male on the villa grounds. Immediately we informed members of staff and the owner to which a member of staff referred to him by name once viewing the video footage we had of him. The owner also seemed to be familiar with him but then denied ever seeing him or knowing him, even though he was seen frequently in the villa and also preparing the evening villa bbq for the guests. The owners initial response seemed to care more about her "high blood pressure " and other staying guests finding out what happened rather than dealing with the matter at hand. Once we stressed the seriousness of the incident the owner called the police by which the time they arrived our transfers to the airport were ready to collect us. We could not make an official police complaint as it meant we had to go to the station and possibly miss our flights. The police took a general report and a copy of the footage we had. The extremely drunk culprit by this time was nowhere to be seen conveniently after the owner had a few words with him and the owners husband acting completely as is nothing had happened. From our perspective it suggests he was being protected or the owners were trying to keep a minimal scene as her priority is her reputation. Further more when we argued that he's been seen around the villa occasionally and been referred to by name, plus as I said he'd been preparing the villa bbq, her reply was that "we cant control who comes in, strangers can come in at anytime and now i feel attacked". I understand the owner was faced with a difficult situation but there was only one victim here! Despite the bitter ending up until that point we all had a lovely stay, the staff and owners we interacted with were polite, friendly and very helpful. The villa itself was clean and well kept, beautiful views. The unfortunate incident itself doesn't take away all the other pleasant memories we have. Would have given villa mare monte a much higher rating otherwise and would have recommend it. Females especially please be aware walking about alone in isolated areas of the villa for caution! I would hate for this to be a reoccurring incident for anyone! (I have posted picture of the man in question for your safety)

we went as a girls trip group of 5 and this place is STUNNING. our room was huge and we couldn’t fault any of the facilities whatsoever. staff members linda and electra went out of their way to not only be amazing accommodates but also friends to us! we also fell in love with the cats. our only issue was right at the end of the trip whereby my friends mysteriously “lost” expensive items of jewellery and unfortunately the other members of staff were not very helpful and we are still pursuing this issue. it was a real shame as up to then this holiday was just perfect and would have recommended very highly! other then that issue, villa mare monte is beautiful and great for any group
