Perfect location, at an attractive price, for entry to or exit from Kruger Park through Malelane Gate. The lodge’s highlight is undoubtedly its location on the Crocodile Rivera and a large viewing deck which is a great place for relaxation and permits a good view of a steady flow of animals taking water. Bushbuck are also present on the property’s grounds. Undeniably quirky the lodge has a fascinating collection of memorabilia obtained over an extended period. Rooms are modestly sized but comfortable with a wholesome breakfast included in the price and a ‘home’ style evening dinner available at an additional cost. Staff were friendly and welcoming. Recommended.

The River House Lodge is truly a gem. The pictures cannot capture the charm of the lodge filled with treasures collected from a life well traveled, or the warmth of sundowners on the deck with fellow travelers watching the animals drink from the river, or the excitement of the kids feeding leaves to an elephant who stopped by for a visit. Johan was a perfect host -- fielding our many questions before hand, making reasoned suggestions (which we are glad we accepted!), and helping to coordinate everything from massages, to airport transfers, to a birthday cake! Our only regret was that we had not planned to stay longer.

We stayed here after visiting Kruger Park, and it was an incredible experience. The location is perfect—just 10 minutes from the Malelane Gate—and the views from the house are absolutely stunning, overlooking the river inside the park. Everyone on the staff was exceptionally friendly, and the food was delicious. Highly recommended!

I HIGHLY recommend this place! Every day something new appeared from the park! The staff is very nice and friendly, we were there for one night and strayed 11 nights! I would go back without hesitation.

Very characteristic and unique hotel, decorated with many antiques. The views to the river were amazing, both from the room and the beautiful deck. The staff was very friendly. Dinner and breakfast were tasty too.
