Jo - United Kingdom. Fantastic lodge right on Crocodile River. Staff were so friendly from the moment we arrived. Had previously requested a room upgrade but was told they were full but as they had a cancellation we were given an upgrade with wrap around balcony on arrival. Waking up to the amazing view over crocodile river with water buffaloes and elephants was wonderful. Buhala lodge went above and beyond to make our stay one to remember. Whole reason for our stay was so my husband could play golf at Leopard Creek a bucket list for his 60th birthday. BL organised everything down to club hire. I booked Elephant Whispers whilst he was playing golf and again transfer and everything organised via them. Food was amazing and evening meal although not included in price was very competitive (£30 for three courses). Afternoon tea was beautiful. Compliments on the beautiful cakes. Only disappointment was that we weren’t staying longer than our two nights as we were travelling further south east to do safari. A wonderful peaceful retreat that will forever remain not only in our memories but in our hearts

The welcome was warm with cake and hot drinks offered. The staff were professional but friendly. The accommodation was exceptional with amazing views over the Crocodile River. Dinner was a gastronomic experience served outdoors with exciting sighting of wildlife in the gardens and river. The African night sky added to the ambience. Our personal guide Connor Beukes, treated us to a veritable feast sharing his extensive knowledge of the Bush, the Big Five, birds and other animals in their natural habitat. He also educated us about all the vegetation and how the Kruger adapts to its animals. The highlight was sighting of a leopard on both days; one day using vehicles as camouflage and the other day, seeing a leopard slink across the road stalking impala on the river bed below.

Stayed in the Elephant Suite, beautifully decorated room with a stunning view, friendly staff, delicious food, would definitely recommend Buhala and can't wait to go back.

We stayed at the Buhala Lodge in July 2025, magnificent location on the Crocodile River where we from the veranda could look at an abundance of crocodiles and hippos, service was first class, food excellent and our waiter, Toki, unbeatable at his job, transfer to Kruger's Malelane gate is only some 20 minutes - a highly recommended lodge to stay at.

A very pleasant holiday. Amazing staff especially Ali. We would highly recommend Buhala for a family luxury safari holiday. Located 10 min from Malelane gate and 40 min from Crocodile river gate. Only a straight 4 hrs drive from Johannesburg.

excellent venue. On the banks of crocodile river. Nice evening setting. Well maintained lodge, has great character to it. Food was divine. Great hosts, special thanks to oTlani. Rooms were well maintained and comfortable. Hope you can get the telescope working, will be amazing to watch the night skies and stars!!

Buhala was amazing. Our room was beautiful, the staff was exceptional and the food was excellent. We had an elephant eating the tree right off of the dining deck one evening. Timing is everything but wow, what an amazing experience!! Our safari guide was incredibly knowledgeable and we had a great time with him. Kruger is a must see.

Perfect place to stay, either for a round of golf at Leopard Creek or a safari in Kruger Park. Great view on Crocodile River, excellent food, perfect accommodation very friendly and helpful staff
