This was one of our best Hotel Jen experiences anywhere in the world. In most cases, Hotel Jen stays are more functional, and we don't get the full ”Shangri-la experience”. In this case however, the experience got pretty close. Some of the positives: 1. The upgrade to the larger room was a nice touch as it gave my family of 4 a bigger space. 2. The F&B we had throughout the stay was good - my family enjoyed all our meals while we were there. 3. Most importantly, literally every single staff member we encountered during the stay was friendly and helpful, and the service was really the best part of this experience. Every person have us absolutely nothing to complain about in terms of service. Some of the more memorable individuals who stood out for us (this is not to say the other folks are not as good - just that we did not interact with them as much): Riyaz and Arun at the restaurant, and Dilshan at the front desk. 4. The breakfast spread exceeded my expectations for a Hotel Jen property. 5. The location was great. Everywhere we needed to go during our 3-night stay was within 15 minutes' walk. A couple of drawbacks though, although these would be pinned on the people who initially constructed the building rather than the people running it now: 1. The building is slightly dated/ageing, and parts of it could do with a refresh. 2. While the Executive room we stayed in was large, there was some wasted space in the room due to the irregular layout. On the whole, this was still a 5/5 experience, and the best part was really the service.

Although the room is not big, it is fully functional. I didn't expect that the manager would take a room tour. He explained the various functions in detail. There was also a welcome drink, and breakfast was specially packed for me. The pick-up and drop-off service was also very reassuring. It was really considerate:

It feels quite close to Male Airport, take a taxi and cross a bridge, then shuttle in the alleys, it takes about 10-15 minutes to arrive. The boss is a German who has lived in the Maldives for more than ten years. Two days before the arrival day, the boss Thomas began to contact us by email, including when we arrived, how much luggage, how many people and so on. After customs clearance on the day of arrival, Thomas' staff has already picked up the guests with a sign at the hotel entrance (free pick-up service is included in my reservation). He greeted us at the door before arriving at his small hotel. Very polite and caring. If there is no problem with your communication needs, the boss Thomas will give you a lot of tips for traveling on the island, such as how much local currency is appropriate to exchange, what local regulations are there, and so on. It is very important that this hotel should be the best Thai restaurant on Male Island. Very authentic thanks to the owner Thomas should have some stories in Thailand, there is no gossip about the specifics. If you eat a meal in person, the boss will recommend and serve you personally. Don't order too much. The next day we went to the resort island. It was a very pleasant day to stay in this hotel on Male Island. It is very convenient to buy swimming goggles, clothes, shoes and other necessary items in the hotel. In Muslim countries, alcohol and tobacco are prohibited, you can ask the boss.

The hotel lobby is warm and cool, and the elevator is fast and clean. The hotel is not too new but it is very clean everywhere, and the facilities are easy to use. The room is not big but bright. The balcony can see the busy Male Airport, as well as various speedboats and ferries coming and going. The bedding is very clean, and the quilt is not thick, just right. There are conditioners, electric kettles, and everything you need. The ladies and brothers at the front desk, the dining room, and the luggage delivery are all gentle and lovely. Especially the manager who picked us up at the airport was punctual and enthusiastic, which made people feel at ease.

After a bad experience this holiday booking somewhere on the other island opposite Male for our forward journey, I was getting my hopes up! But upon arriving at Somerset we were greeted with smiles, a drink and cold towels. Not to mention the lovely driver who gave us some information on the city during the drive from the airport. The hotel, by any standard, ticks all the boxes! The restaurant has the best food and after walking around the street we decided we wouldn’t eat anywhere else. The staff go above and beyond and were friendlier than the island resort we’d spent 5 days at. This was the first time we actually wanted to ‘tip’ the staff. The room has everything you need. Yes the air conditioner in the main room smells a bit but it’s the same in Bali. It can’t be helped with the humidity! And the other comment about the call to prayer noise, you’re coming to a country that has their own traditions and I can’t see why you wouldn’t be respectful of that. Thanks for a fantastic stay and I will definitely be recommending to other friends.

Overall stay is good . Staffs are lovely. Always greet with a smile. Hotel rooms are spacious. Has a lovely view . However rooms are bit old . Manhattan is also famous for the delicious food . But the hotel breakfast is below average. Food and variety was not hoot at all . Had no fresh juice . Instead there was processed juice . Nescafé coffee was there but milk was powder. I was very surprised to see it . I used cold full cream milk from cereal station as there was only full cream milk. No oat or almond milk . Food is not refilled when it’s finished During my last stay in September I had problem with noise from outside of my room. I did not complain about it but it was kinda construction or a vacuum sound . I’ll definitely return back. Would love to see a good change and improvement

The entire Male's hotel is probably of the Hanting class. Only available as a transition hotel. The service is very good, free pick-up and drop-off at the hotel is also delivered to the airport. It is recommended that you order a small suite with a balcony, otherwise the room is too small and very depressing. The ordinary room for the first night is very small! !! !! I stayed in the suite for one more night before going back, and felt more comfortable.

It was a great experience. We were picked up from the airport within 10 minutes of calling. Check in was great - greeted with some juice while we enjoyed the patio. The room was as promised - comfortable beds, nice little patio. We enjoyed the breakfast as well - we were able to sample some local food. My wife took a fall on the sidewalk and scrapped her knee. The staff was so nice. The rushed to get the medical kit and insisted on properly cleaning and dressing the scrape. I wish I could remember her name - she was so caring - you'll know here when you get there. She has amazing hazel/green eyes and kind smile. Thank you!

We are a repeater guests of Summer Beach Hotel, and i am delighted to share my wonderful stay experience, the Staff were so friendly, helpful and flexible. From the meet and greet at the airport, luxurious car for pick up and drop off with a polite Driver i must say that they are excellent and passionate. Dining experience is always awesome, they have a “ must try “ food menu. The hotel is very clean, smells very good and comfortable to stay with. Close to the main road, the view was amazing. Special mention to Lalaine and Avril for their warm welcome and assistance whenever we stay at Summer Beach. Also, Thank you for the Manager for taking care of us. This is my favorite hotel in Male City.,

Comfy yet affordable stay in Male, Maldives. We arrived at the Maldives airport around 6 pm and we thought of spending the night in the city before heading to the next island. I saw this hotel online and booked it right away. It was minutes away from the port which was very ideal. Check in was really smooth, people who received us were very polite and warm, really helpful and informative. They even gave us some tips on how to go about the city at night. We had dinner in the hotel, which was great coz the food were amazing for a very affordable price. Our dinner for 4, was only around 30 USD. The rooms were exceptional, we booked the suites and it was spacious enough for a family, i think. Comfy beds and pillow, minimalist style with white and light wood colored furnitures which i liked coz they are easy on the eyes, the property looks well kept and clean overall. Breakfast was included on our room bookings so we did not have any hassle to start our day and go about to our. Next destination. Would definitely book this hotel again and recommend Flora Hotel to everyone who wishes to visit Male. Thank you to all of the staff! Well done!

Very restrictive but if you are just on a short stay would recommend. Very clean, rooms small yet clean. Breakfast included, okay. Staff very helpful and accommodating.

We stayed here for the second time before catching our flight home after a dive trip. It is fine for one night, the room was clean and the air con worked great. This island is man made, so space is at a premium. We booked a twin in the hope that we might have a bit more bed space, but the floor space was not really big enough to have both our dive bags open at the same time. However the staff were absolutely delightful. The rooftop restaurant was really nice and the food and service was great. We had to leave at 5.15 and there was a lovely breakfast spread out with yogurt and juices and fruit beautifully presented. We would not hesitate to stay there again.

However, I feel very uncomfortable making the reservation with a lot of time pressure after having to ask for further clarification multiple times due to unclear communication. I stayed there in a twin room with my friend for 1 night. The stay was good. However after the check out I received a call from the hotel and the guy who spoke to me was very rude. He told me that we did not inform them about the dirty towels and now their boss will be angry. I told them that we requested for room clean but they said it will be provided on the next day. And that Bangladeshi guy said we caused them a loss by making the towels dirty. I asked them if they don't have any towels in their stock and this guy hung up. It was so offensive and so unethical to call their customer and speak like that. Besides no hospitality establishment staff can call to their customer and say we cause them a loss or give lectures like that. I know about this because me and my friend who stayed with me, we work in the same industry. This was the first and last time there. We will never go back to hathaa beach again.

We have stayed 3 nights at this hotel at this time. Few other times also we have stayed here. We have seen very comfortable atmosphere. Staff are so much friendly and helpful. Specially Mr Ahmed Owner & the Hotel Manager. His response is far-more beyond expectations. I normally stayed this hotel with direct booking. Room are clean & fresh always. When ever we request for anything, within a minute it will be at our door steps. We highly recommend this hotel for all. Weather couple or family. We will definitely come back
