Hotel is located in a beautiful park. Parking is available free of charge. There are 4 train lines on the Rhine side, with corresponding noise, even at night.

Overall we left feeling disappointed. As others have said the location is great (apart from occasional train noise), but the Favorite fails badly on the all important details. We stayed in one of the larger (52 m2) suites over the Xmas break. The view across the park was fabulous but a number of 'details' irked us, namely: We were unexpectedly charged 30 Euros to have breakfast delivered to the room. We booked the room with breakfast and room service included so we shouldn't have been charged for this. Moreover, the breakfast checklist sheet in the room did not itemise or clearly indicate that we would be charged additionally for this 'service'. From a customer perspective this policy of 'non-transparency' feels like deception. Also, our room was not cleaned or made up at all on Xmas day, which meant we had stale breakfast food in the room, overflowing waste paper bin (remember Christmas gifts) no clean towels etc. We received no apology or compensation for this oversight, and nor for the over-charging, but rather we were told that the room service we had paid for did not include the breakfast room service (but only the room cleaning). Although we offered a bar voucher in the end, after a lot of complaining (which we obviously couldn't use at 10 am in the morning immediately prior to our departure!). Please note the 'allergy free linen' smells incredibly strongly of ozone, or some other potent chemical disinfectant. I.e. not suitable for those with chemical sensitivity or allergies! There was also a large gap under the door, meaning noise and stale air from the communal corridor can easily enter the room. Also, no clear statement on how the rooms or hotel are ventilated for those trying to avoid uneccessary airborne illnesses. As an aside, it is worth noting that the rooms are by no means sound-proof (despite being advertised as such) and we heard a lot of noise from our neighbours and the corridor (see large gap under door above). Finally, when we went to check out the elevator was not working. So that meant two trips down to the car park with heavy bags from the fouth floor. Again, we received no apology for any of this and the staff were unhelpful/indifferent when we complained about these things. Only at the checkout, when my wife became exasperated and asked to speak to the manager, was the breakfast service charge finally refunded. This hotel appears to be trading on its past 'reputation' but if it continues like this I'm fairly sure it will soon not have one. Details matter, customer experience matters. The Favorite hotel management and staff need to be far more proactive and customer focused if they want to rebuild their reputation and attract repeat custom.

What was supposed to be a relaxing wellness weekend for my partner's birthday unfortunately turned into a complete disappointment. As we were enthusiastic about the Favorite Parkhotel during our last stay two years ago, this time we had very high expectations, which were unfortunately completely disappointed and we were quickly brought back down to earth. The superior room we had booked was unfortunately one of the very dusty, old-fashioned rooms on the 5th floor, in contrast to the last stay when we had been given a modern room. There was nothing to complain about in terms of cleanliness, but it started with the fact that on the day of arrival our room was not ready for occupancy for a long time and the man at reception had obviously forgotten us, so we had to ask several times about the current status of the check-in option. The elevator was of course broken, so we had to carry our luggage up to the 5th floor. When the staff asked if we needed help, of course there was no response. The elevator was regularly broken from the day of arrival to the day of departure (Thursday-Sunday)... The energy cost is another of those additional fees that are beyond comprehension. It would be a more honest decision for the hotel to adjust the overnight prices accordingly. The wellness area on the roof is still completely undersized for a hotel of this size, and the whirlpool was out of service for two days. The hotel's newly designed spa area on the ground floor is visually very appealing, but there are too few places to lie down for the size of the hotel. The design here was more about appearance than practicality, because the large number of guests gave the whole place the atmosphere of a train station, with no trace of relaxation. It would have been sensible to separate the rest areas, but as it is, you are in the middle of through traffic... unfortunately a total failure. When I was asked by a receptionist on the day of departure whether I had enjoyed my stay and answered "Unfortunately not", his reaction was a simple "Oh, that's a shame, I'm sorry". It would have been more appropriate to simply ask why I was dissatisfied, because how can a hotel improve if it doesn't ask about criticism? But the motto here is: it doesn't matter, the customer has left, so I don't care why the customer didn't like it. At just under 800.- for three nights and a visit to the hotel's own restaurant, this was a very disappointing experience. I had communicated with the hotel well in advance that it was supposed to be a birthday surprise for my partner, but they said: of course not. It was clear to us that this hotel was finished for us, there are better places.

We had a lovely few days in Mainz, we really enjoyed our stay in your Parkhotel. I was able to get my wife excited about this hotel, which I usually go to alone on business. There is now a new spa area with a sauna, a steam sauna and an infrared sauna. There is also another sauna, a fitness area and a jacuzzi on the wonderful roof terrace, it is wonderful to lie in the warm water and look up at the starry sky. The breakfast was, as always, perfect and comprehensive, which is one of the many reasons why this hotel is my favourite in Mainz. It is beautifully situated in a very well-kept park area, the view of the Rhine and the city of Mainz invites you to linger and relax. The rooms facing the park have a balcony. All the staff are professional and friendly. This time we also enjoyed a massage, it was a wonderful wellness holiday.

Here they try to offer the guest more than they can. Stylish elements and the charm of the 80s come together. The hotel has potential, but the implementation is flawed everywhere. Everything seems a little loveless and unkempt, although the effort is evident. They want to be everything: a business hotel, an event hotel, a family hotel and a wellness hotel, but there is a lack of investment. It is better to do one thing well than everything half-heartedly. The rooms are very spacious, with a balcony overlooking the park, breakfast was good, free parking in front of the house. That justifies the higher price. The location is a little out in the middle of nature. However, the nearby busy railway line is annoying.

We had been looking forward to the wellness weekend for a long time and travelled for hours to get there, only to find out that - the whirlpool is far too cold, it is only suitable as a cooling pool after the sauna (and there is nothing that can be done about it, the whirlpool company had set it up that way on purpose) - there are no toilets in the rooftop spa area - the bathrobes are stiff and wrinkled, as if they had been dried in the last basement hole - the complex is so big and so poorly signposted that you constantly get lost - that the room itself is OK, but the tap is rusty and the bathroom mirrors are covered in spit - that the sauna area inside (i.e. not on the rooftop) is largely broken and was shut down long before the end of the wellness time! - that the service shrugs off all these non-services and explains nothing, let alone does anything to even come close to meeting the standards of a 4-star wellness hotel. We arrived on a Friday and left the same evening, completely dismayed, and had to look for a new place to stay late in the evening. P.S.: Super 8 Hostel - best hostel! Saved our weekend!

The reception was not warm and when we left, no one cared to know how we liked it. So here are our experiences: Far too few staff at breakfast. The one who was there was trying hard and friendly, but had no chance given the number of people. The pool area was not cleaned, the "lumps of earth" from the night before were still there in the morning. The shower in the pool area is so calcified that you can hardly turn it on and off, there is a lot of mold on the joints in the shower, a hole in the tiles and the shower gel has not been refilled in two days. The toilet in the pool area was also not the cleanest (the door should be looked at). We wanted to use the whirlpool in the rooftop spar at 9:15 a.m., but it was not yet in operation/usable (off and not clean). The parking garage is very narrow, we both had to get out on the passenger side to get a parking space and then pay €32 for it... Free coffee in the room would be nice. The hotel also seems not to want "room service", as an additional €15 per person is charged for ordering breakfast in the room... In the room we had signs of water damage on the walls, the bed topper had stains, but otherwise the room was clean and nicely furnished. The rooms are well soundproofed, which of course isn't much use on the lovely balcony, where you have to deal with the trains passing by and the flight path to Frankfurt Airport... The city center is very easy to reach on foot along the Rhine. We really enjoyed the breakfast buffet and the food in the lovely beer garden. Conclusion: We don't know if we would choose this hotel again for over €400 for 2 nights...
