Beautiful chateau, lovely rooms, very comfortable bed, marvellous breakfast, friendly host. Perfect night stop on a journey through France to Italy. Close to a natural lake for swimming, sunbathing and picnicing. Lovely walk around the c8 hectares of land surrounding the chateau.

After hours of motorway or along a leisure trip you will find peace and absolute beauty in this stylishly renovated Manoir.  Past style, with shiny solid wood floor, walls in warm shades and antique forniture, have been carefully chosen and displayed to give a contemporary airy space feel. Bathrooms conjugate modern and old features with dramatic colour combinations. Outside are the mountains and it's total peace. There is also a Spa area if you want to teat yourself with a couple of days of nature relaxation with top WiFi connection. All organic. Great breakfast. You will be welcomed as a special guest by a very polite and cosmopolite owner. For sure our place in the area from now on.

This is a fabulous castle on the outskirts of a small village. The room we had was spacious and nicely furnished. Upon arrival we were greeted by the owner of the place, who spoke excellent English. We had an excellent dinner in a nearby restaurant (there are a few in the short driving distance from the castle) The hotel owner brought the fresh breakfast rolls in the morning to the room and we had the excellent breakfast in the room. Quite delightful experience!

Very beautiful grounds and room. Felt a bit anonymous as nobody around, we did check-in and check out ourselves with code. Breakfast was poor for a place like this. They leave yogurt juice and jam in the fridge and leave a basket outside your room door in the morning with about 6 slices of bread! Wouldn’t go back.

We had a lovely quiet stay at the Chateau. The rooms were comfortable and quiet, and the in room breakfast if the perfect start for a day. We loved talking to the owners about the history of the Chateau.

A phantom accommodation supposedly run by staff who, in fact, have NOTHING to do with their customers. You want to go to the pool? You have to book it weeks in advance (sic). You want to watch television, nothing works. You send a message to your correspondent. No one answers. As far as I know, the cash paid for the Room is hard cash, but at Château Maillat (resic), you are considered less than nothing. Avoid.

Arrived in Maillat, over the (bad) access road to the hotel surprised by the beautiful chateau. The parking spaces are insufficient because a part for the owner and there is also a spa on the property. So you have to park in the grass. The first thing you hear is the highway that is right behind the chateau and is noisy 24 hours a day. The garden, without real seats was beautiful and the lady with her dog was extremely friendly (wife of the owner?). We were taken to our rooms and they looked fantastic. Good beds and a classic look, what you want in a castle. The disappointment came when the owner came. We had not booked correctly and the price went up. Why? The price on the site was for an occupancy of 1 person in the room. So there was an extra 29 euros per night for the luxury room and 16 euros for the standard room. Special because I have never booked a room where the standard is: 1 person per room and if you are with 2 the difference should be the breakfast but there was also a difference of 13 euros between the prices of the rooms. Moreover, the rooms were already provided with towels and preparation of the breakfast for 2 people.....We had to pay immediately. The reception area / breakfast room was not in use and we got breakfast in the room. Did we want cheese? Yes please ... that consisted of 1 block per person (comté). The refrigerator in the room contained a few tubs of spreadable cheese, milk, juice, a cup of yogurt, butter 1 a little jam daily. Coffee and tea in the room are only a total of 4 cups of which 2 for espresso is a bit little if you do not like lungo or espresso. Breakfast was then brought in the morning, 2 slices of brioche and some slices of bread. Not what you expect. Upon departure everything was locked and we only saw the owner in the morning when the breakfast was brought. We also missed a nice description of the history of the castle and possibly a tour of the spa (the owner gave a 2 euro discount if you stayed at the hotel and you paid 22 instead of 24 euros pp for 1 hour and 50 minutes :))
