I recently stayed at the Sunstar Beach Hotel, and it was an experience that left me quite disappointed. While I was looking forward to a relaxing holiday, this hotel failed to deliver on many fronts. Unfortunately, the issues I faced during my stay have put me off returning to Turkey for the foreseeable future. Below are the main reasons why I wouldn’t recommend this hotel: Airport Transfer: After arriving at 1:20 am, I had to wait over 90 minutes for the transfer to the hotel, which was far longer than expected. Following a long day of travel, this was exhausting and set the tone for a frustrating stay. Check-in Delays: Upon arriving at the hotel at 5:00 am, I found the receptionist asleep. It took around 30 minutes to wake them up and check in, which was not the welcome I had hoped for after such a long transfer. Room Issues: The room itself had multiple problems. The toilet was constantly flushing, and despite reporting it, it wasn't fixed until the following day. To make it through the first night, I had to manually fix the flush myself. Additionally, the hallway light in the room was faulty and only worked between 2:00 am and 5:00 am, despite being reported. The pool also appeared unmaintained, with salty water, and was not regularly cleaned or checked, as I’ve seen at other all-inclusive hotels. Wi-Fi Issues: Wi-Fi was not included in the rooms or pool area, and the hotel charged €5 per day for access, which was cash only. This was not made clear before booking. The free Wi-Fi in the lobby was extremely slow and unreliable, making it frustrating to even check emails or messages. Food and Misleading Options: The food was bland and lacked variety, with very basic options available. Despite the website advertising a range of afternoon snacks like chips, pizza, and burgers, what was actually offered each day was bread and dried sponge cake—hardly the variety one expects from an all-inclusive hotel. Lack of Entertainment: Entertainment at the hotel was virtually non-existent. For the first few days, there were a couple of activities, but these quickly disappeared after midweek. It felt like the hotel was winding down for the season, which should have been communicated before booking. If you’re looking for any kind of engaging entertainment, this hotel is not the place. Police Incident: During my stay, there was an incident involving the police. While I was not involved, another guest filmed the police and had their phone confiscated, with all media deleted. It would have been useful to know in advance that filming the police is illegal in Turkey to avoid this kind of situation. The entire atmosphere at the hotel changed after this incident, and it created a tense environment for the rest of my stay. Hotel Packing Up: Every afternoon, staff were seen packing away tables, chairs, and sunbeds into storage, creating a strange atmosphere as if the hotel was closing down around us. It was quite uncomfortable, and it felt like the hotel was mor

The place was digusting, there were stains on the towels and rust in the kettle and an awful damp smell coning from the bathroom. Where was dirt on the bedside tables too. The food was terrible, only meat optins at lunch were liver and kofta, the cheapest stuff the could find, the eggs at breakfas were raw and made me sick!! Food was always cold and the tabel cloths and cutlery were always dirty and the place is infested with flys. Dont go to this hotel

Food is absolute joke, cold, tasteless, rooms ok but not changed everyday, staff were nice pool was lovely and clean. Good job there were local restaurants to eat at otherwise would have starved. Long transfer 3 hrs would not return. Had great weather and local beach. Was told bar snacks, nothing available and WiFi only works in reception and is not free if want to use in your room.

Just had the most amazing holiday at this fabulous hotel . It was excellent value for money . Clean , comfortable and most enjoyable. The reception staff Hasan , Celled and team was excellent, they couldn't do enough to make our stay great . The restaurant staff was 100% help full at all times . The executive head chef Mustafa served the most delicious meals , there was always something lovely and tasty to suit most pallets . The table waiting staff , bar staff cleaning staff did their jobs most perfectly well it was a pleasure to stay at this wonderful hotel also not forgetting the animation team who was very good and the beach and pool bar staff Broon . Vamous, Saddack and the rest of the team was fantastic. Well done Sunstar Beach hotel . Thank you all for your hospitality

This is only in relation to block C! Mostly the room was comfortable, tv doesn't cater to English channels, if it's not Turkish it's German, Polish or Russian? Pool snack bar serves (at best) lukewarm burgers and chips! You then have to go down to block A to main restaurant for breakfast, lunch and dinner, can only say upgrade needed for block C!

Me and my friends stayed here 10 nights, and honestly dont understand all the bad reviews and critisism. True it isnt a 4* hotel with eu standards, but the priceses arent either. the hotel and the rooms are clean and tidy, the bed is clean and comfy, you only go to sleep in the room at the end of the day. The food is absolutely fine, tasty with good choices (2 meat, 1 vegetarian, lots of different salads, desserts), breakfast has wide choice too. The executive chef is there all day, everyday, making sure the service goes smooth No, they dont make english breakfast, why would they? But there are fried eggs, scrambled eggs, boiled eggs, toast etc for britts, who are only willing to eat the same food every morning. If you english ppl not happy stick to spain, where they cater for you. The all inclusive deal limited drinks and snacks wise, so this could improve too. the staff are friendly, but doesnt speak much english, they speak lots of other languages. They do have areas what need improving, but who doesnt? So please take these comments with a pinch of salt, and get there with positive attitude, and enjoy your holiday

I have just returned home from this Hotel was here for 7 nights with my wife . It looks good when you see the reception area and foyer, the rooms are ok . As soon as we arrived they want you to upgrade your room 50 euros the first room they showed us was small and no view a very small balcony so I payed the 50 euro not happy!! this has taken about an hour to do finally get in the room very tired and hot no air con in the foyer area or in the lifts . I go into the bathroom and the shower is no good it is broken called the reception desk they tell 5 mins after 3 calls I go the the desk to be told it will be fixed tomorrow not happy they change my room it's now taken close to 3 hours . The food is disgusting no real meat just processed stuff and it's mostly cold . The breakfast was just as bad they can't cook an egg . I got eggs and done myself scramble egg in the micro wave . We were all-Inclusive but couldn't eat the food so we went out which made the holiday cost go up but better spent on food rather than medical treatment for dysentery . The bar is a joke I have seen better bars set up in a house party glasses are not clean . The pool looks nice but far to small for the hotel all beds are taken before sun up and are so close together . The grounds are not maintained see pictures . The best part of this place is the beach bar the staff are very good it's clean and food is cooked fresh . All alcohol and food at the beach is an extra charge . The best place to eat is Jack's Place fantastic food and very friendly staff the food is cooked and presented with love . Must say my room was cleaned daily to a good standard and the air con worked in the room . Cats in restaurant very hot no air con not very clean . Snack bar was dirty and the food was disgusting . DON'T BOOK THIS HOTEL YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!! say's it a 5 star it's not a 1 star

Everything is bad about this hotel, the rooms are dirty, they didn't change the towels all week we've been there, no cleaning, no hoovering. The pools are small (and the sun is missing there , as is surrounded by buildings) the food is not edible, looks bad, stinks and with black long hair in it. The sea is nearby, however the beach is awful, full of rocks and you can easily cut your feet. The wifi is not free. About drinks, only pepsi is ok, (they do have something similar with fanta and sprite, but the taste is far away from the original) from alcohol only beer and vodka. Entertainment - only 1 h ( something like Guess the song) from 10-11pm, then they will offer their disco's for 10 euro entrance (but they are free when you go by yourself in Alanya Centre and they will even give you offers (shots free, half price, 20% off etc) Be prepared prices starts from 7000 tl - 50000tl / 175 £ (wine) - 1250£ (whiskey or champagne) for a bottle. If you want to go to different beach you can (Cleoplatra is like 25 min away and taxi is like 500-700tl / 15-20£ ) The city itself is not bad- Alanya Centre, but the prices are extremely high, people are not polite, extremely rude, you can be easily hit by a car on the crossing lane. Be careful of scammers, avoid all travel agency.
