Best Hotels near Lavoir, Mahebourg

Initially we booked 4 nights here with a plan to extend our stay or move on somewhere else. We were a bit concerned with some of the negative reviews but it definitely looked our sort of place - a small property with stunning beachside location that offered a limited facility all-inclusive. Well, we arrived after the 12 hour flight from London to be told they were overbooked and we’d been “upgraded” to their sister hotel, Preskil Island Resort (see separate review). Our brief view of Astroea Beach left us wanting more and so after assurances from Southern Cross that we would not be overbooked again, we decided to spend the remaining 5 nights of our Mauritius holiday here. Accommodation We booked a 2 bedroom bungalow and were allocated 205 which has a direct sea view and easy access to beach. It looks like rooms have been spruced up with comfy, but firm beds and a newish sofa in the lounge. There is a mini bar fridge, included on the all inclusive package (beer and soft drinks topped up daily). The bathroom had a new loo and washbasin but the tiles seem to be have been part painted in emulsion by a small child or visually impaired person. The grouting is pretty grim too. The electric shower is an instant Triton heater so water pressure is compromised . There is no hot water into the bungalow so I had to boil the kettle in order to shave in the wash basin, but this was no real hassle. There was an air conditioner in each bedroom which was effective, albeit noisy. Despite some poor decoration in the bathroom, everything was kept spotlessly clean. Food and Beverage We loved the small, part-open restaurant directly above the beach. Breakfast had a selection of fruit, cereal, pastries, bread etc with a toaster for the bread. There was a bean coffee machine if you wanted something different to the filter coffee and tea was served in a teapot, essential for us Brits. There was a number of hot items for order including great omelettes, eggs, sausage (chicken), bacon and crepes. Lunch was a good choice menu of salads, pasta, burger, fish and paninis. The choice of all-inclusive items was more limited and did not seem to have a logic as to why they were included or not, but we loved the fish “burger” which was actually a large fillet of sea bream. Dinner was 3 courses with a choice of 2 items for each course, which you selected at breakfast time. This was absolutely fine by us and avoided food waste. All food was freshly prepared (with love) and cooked to order from the tiny kitchen, so this could take time, which was absolutely no problem when you had the amazing view and you are on holiday. The all inclusive drinks were good for the price point. The wine was Cape Bay South African which was perfectly OK. Phoenix lager was on draft and there was even large glasses (0.6l). It was already 8 o'clock in the evening when I arrived in Mauritius. After I finished the formalities, I could see the shuttle at the airport. It took about 5 minutes to get to the hotel. The hotel was clean and soundproof. We were the second. Tianbao had a day trip and walked very early without experiencing the hotel's breakfast and other facilities. It is a good airport transition option.

advantage Located on Blue Bay Beach The hotel has its own Ocean Centre for renting Kayak or participating in Snorkeling, diving and other day tours. The rooms are clean, comfortable, superb views, facing the Blue Bay. After 11:00 check out, you can still enjoy the hotel facilities, including beach towels and punches. (Full Board can still enjoy lunch after check out) Full Board includes 4 meals and drinks all day. Different themed activities every day in the hotel Disadvantage There are black ants in the room, the most serious is a big cockroach in the room. Broken shower by the pool The food is a buffet, the taste is average, the style is different every day, but there are not many choices.

The breakfast was very good, the hotel was very quiet, the view by the sea was very good, the location was very close to the blue bay public beach, the snorkeling swimming was very convenient, the hotel facilities were very general, the soundproofing was not good, the big bed was actually two small beds A little bit awkward! Its been over a week since we returned from Mauritius and we still have that wholesome buzz lingering. Sea sense Boutique Hotel and Spa was our second stop on our recent holiday (in fact Honeymoon!)….. The location (ie right on the beach) and grounds of the hotel were beautiful. Everywhere is so well kept and idyllic. The biggest triumph for us was the service/people. When we first arrived we felt a bit apprehensive as you see so many people buzzing around from morning through til night its almost hard to remember who is who. But as the holiday went on, these people we see every day soon became friends. People we would look forward to seeing through the day. The team at Seasense are absolutely fantastic and have such a warmth that makes you feel genuinely cared for and welcomed. A big shout out to Sylvana, Aniket, Gerald and Jerome who were a pleasure to be around. You really are great at what you do and worth your weight in gold. We were in the Charm room which was quaint. Overall cleanliness good. Good amenities provided. We had the pleasure of using the spa too which was lovely. Therapists were lovely and very well equipped. Easy to book. Oils they used smelt divine and everything felt so relaxing. The Boathouse is a really lovely touch. Being able to borrow snorkelling gear, Kayaks etc without any worries was a really convenient. Jude (can be found in or around the Boathouse) was always so helpful and another real asset to your team. Food was mostly good. We would have however loved to have seen a bit more Mauritius food/snacks available. Ie fried rice/biryani/noodles/varying salads. One really minor bugbear/running joke we had was the chefs insistent use of meringue, sugar daisies and jellylike substance on nearly every dessert we had included in the Half Board. Without these – not bad at all! Breakfast - TOAST! A toaster with sliced bread would be amazing but otherwise a good selection already available. We thoroughly enjoyed two weeks at Laguna Beach and found it to be great value on All Inclusive. Sea view double rooms were of a reasonable size, comfortable with attractive bamboo furnishing and well insulated for noise. Food was exceptionally good - a really wide choice of tasty dishes that were changing every day, the local fish being particularly delicious for me. Pancakes in the afternoon became an essential part of the daily routine. The waiters and staff in general are so friendly and helpful, I could not fault them in any way. In fact, the friendly atmosphere at Laguna Beach is one of their strongest assets, as is the local rum! All the drinks you get on the All Inclusive are very good quality, including the cocktails - I couldn't get enough of the Daiquiris. There are a few evening entertainments run by the excellent Kevin,  like a local dance troupe and a very fun karaoke, but this isn't on a daily basis, so isn't too much. Water sports are available and I recommend the views from the parasailing. We did lots of trips from Laguna Beach all over the island and found it to be an excellent base for exploration. I particularly recommend doing a catamaran trip on the West coast - this was idyllic, we got to see dolphins and a family of ***** whales!  A guided tour around the tiny eco island of Ile Aux Aigrettes is a must - I won't forget the giant turtles ... Mauritius is also a hiker's paradise and this is something I wish I had more time for. The scenery and views from Black River Gorges National Park is something special. I do recommend hiring taxi drivers for a day or half day instead of driving yourself - best have someone who knows where all the bad road surfaces are and traffic in some areas can be a bit hectic at rush hours. Some of the drivers have excellent local and historical knowledge, and can act as your guide, not just a driver. There are a few things to be aware of when considering a stay here. It's on the more remote South East side of the island. If you want tourist shops, bars and nightlife then head to the North - this resort is more about peace and quiet. Saying that there is a constant soundtrack of music in the pool / bar area that I could have done without in the daytime, or just turn the volume down a bit.  Being on the East it can get windy, especially in the evening but this was rarely an issue for us.  If you want your hotel to have an amazing beach you should consider an alternative - the section of the beach cordoned off here is very small and everyone used the lovely infinity pool instead.

We had the most wonderful experience at C mauritius resort hotel. Upon arrival, we were warmly greeted by Mrs Karen the Front Office Manager, Mr. Nevin the receptionist and Bradley the bell boy. The staffs of the hotel were always ready to help and all of them were very friendly. The food and the service were excellent. The room are so big, spacious and well cleaned, the bed was super comfortable and had a good restfull night sleep. We were well served at the bar Andiket was amazing. At the buffet restaurant we were warming welcome by Mr. Jess what a nice man give us all the restaurant information. Nice swimming pool fabulous relaxing corner. The view was a sight to behold and I would highly recommend this resort to anyone wanting to spend the dream tropical holidays. We recommend this hotel if you are looking to have best time in Mauritius ❤️❤️

The hotel is very good and very stylish. The reception department is very professional. Thank you again for Ctrip. Before the trip, there was a problem with the flight. Other tourists on the flight with Ctrip bought the tickets and got a very good arrangement. I bought it on a dragon, and the service was a shit.

We would like to thank the managing team and all his staff including the reception team, housekeeping and the restaurant personnel for their exceptional hospitality and assistance. All the hotel staff went above and beyond to make our stay a very comfortable one. A special thanks to the restaurant team who attended to all our requests without hesitation. We would like to make some positive suggestions for senior citizens and handicapped person. There should be more accessible rooms for wheelchair, available for them. The concrete pathway near the restaurant could be extended up to the sea-side where the senior citizens and those on wheelchair can enjoy the scenic view of the sea.
