Hotel Ratswaage

We were staying in the hotel for a few days then heading off by bike. The staff were perfect. Excellent breakfasts. Good bike storage. Nice pool area. Good location on the main street next to transport. The only downside was that the room was very hot on arrival as it faced the sun (September but still very hot and curtains left open). I see the responses to other reviews from the hotel saying that they do provide rooms with A/C but travellers are not likely to know how hot the standard rooms get (booked by a good agent). In summary, Magdeburg is a great city and this hotel is good but if you are from a cooler country, choose a room with AC.

Big hotel, big comfortable room, clean and well maintained. No A/C, no fridge in the room. Centrally located, lots of amenities around. Own parking garage for 12€/day, although not directly accessible from the lobby (some 100m walk with luggage). Public parking is also available.

It´s much nice from the inside than first perceived when checking it out on aerial maps and I was greeting friendly, the room was clean, nice enough, large and had a window you could open (the old concrete charme of this place has it´s perks!). As there was no hot water kettle for tea in the room, I asked at the reception if they had one I could borrow and was quickly offered a large thermos with hot water instead, which was perfect. Breakfast was good as well with plenty of options. I had previously enquired about being able to charge my car in the hotel garage and was pointed just down the street where the local electric company has an AC charging station, which also gave me the opportunity to forego the hotel garage which comes at 12 € a night (seems to be the day rate everywhere in Magdeburg btw) because I charged for the time I walked around town and then moved the car back to a public spot for the night and continued charging in the morning. So overall a good location to go exploring, nice enough hotel and even a decent italian restaurant next door, so I would book this again.
