Our visit to Valley Lodge and Spa was, unfortunately, one of the most disappointing experiences we’ve ever had at a supposed luxury establishment. Despite our best efforts to overlook a series of glaring issues, the events that unfolded during our stay left us both disheartened and appalled. 1. Overcharged by Nearly 100% Our experience began with a financial shock—an almost 100% surcharge that could not be justified by the quality of service or accommodations provided. This was an unpleasant prelude to the cascade of issues that followed. 2. A Room Unfit for Guests Upon arrival, we were met with a room that was far below any reasonable standard. There were no towels or bath mats provided, a basic amenity one expects even at a budget hotel. The room itself was visibly dirty—dust-laden surfaces, a carpet that had clearly not been vacuumed for weeks, and general neglect that was hard to ignore. 3. Maintenance Neglect The neglect extended to the room’s functionality and aesthetics. Three of the lights in our room were not working, leaving certain areas dim and unwelcoming. Furthermore, the artwork on the walls was falling apart—quite literally, with frames that were cracked and peeling. 4. No Accountability from Management When we attempted to address our concerns, we were informed that the general manager was aware of our dissatisfaction. However, he simply chose not to show up to work, leaving no one to take responsibility for the multitude of issues. 5. Shocking Display of Inhumane Behavior The final straw came when we witnessed members of the security staff torturing a snake for their own entertainment. This appalling display of cruelty left us deeply disturbed and questioning the ethical standards of the establishment. 6. Disturbed Throughout the Night As if all this weren’t enough, our night’s rest was repeatedly interrupted by the security guards themselves. Despite politely requesting them to keep their voices down, they continued to converse loudly, disrupting our sleep multiple times. Conclusion Our visit to Valley Lodge and Spa was nothing short of a disaster. What should have been a relaxing retreat turned into a distressing ordeal. The blatant overcharging, lack of basic hospitality, poor maintenance, absence of accountability, and the disturbing behavior of the staff left us deeply disappointed. We hope this review serves as a wake-up call to the management to address these serious issues. Until then, we cannot, in good conscience, recommend this establishment to anyone seeking even a semblance of quality, comfort, or respectability.

Spa treatment was excellent even though we arrived late as per our scheduled appointment. All our requested services were provided. There were limited options on the menu for lunch.

I accidentally confirmed wrong dates on this site and paid full amount due to secure booking. Informed Valley Lodge within 3 hours of error, however, refund was refused. Since March 2024 I have been battling to re-book available dates as management unprofessional & spitefully only offering me accommodation in 2025 even though availability of empty rooms have been confirmed - NIGHTMARE TO SECURE FAIR BOOKING.

I loved how the staff assisted me in making wedding proposal a memorable one. How they prepared my room in my absence to make it a memorable night was all sort of awesome. Thank you!!

The Spa and lodge is beautiful, situated nicely next to the Magalies river. The rooms are sizeable and nicely decorated.

Poor service, poor value for money I sent in a note to say this was a romantic getaway, no extra lengthstaken to make this special...only one bath towel, faulty cabinet door was reported and no one assisted, iron not working
