Hotel la Plaça Madremanya

This was our second visit to this hotel and both times it was perfect. The hotel is in a building in the center of the small town and has all the authentic charm you could ask for in the Empordá. We stayed in a mini apartment that had a spacious living room, a useful kitchen, two bedrooms, a bathroom and a lovely terrace. The staff are attentive. We didn’t eat in the the restaurant, but it is popular amongst locals, so I believe it is good. We did order drinks to take up to our room and they were delicious! The high point for us was the pool. Super relaxing and surrounded by gardens. Hope to return often.

An absolutely beautiful hotel with the right blend of old and new. Set in a fantastic position in the old village of Madremanya overlooking the mountains . Each room is individually designed by the owners. We were in Olive which was huge with a double daybed and fantastic terrace looking out over the garden and view. Quirky glass bathroom which didn't give a lot of privacy and had a wooden surround bath with just a hand held shower with no curtain. The whole place is full of quiet nooks and crannies and has the feeling of staying in a family home. Indeed Jaume the owner was always around and very welcoming as were all the staff. Dinner was very good local Spanish fare with huge portions and wine included - very welcome as we were on a walking holiday. Breakfast was a cold spread of fruit, ham and cheese. We were given eggs on the first day but not the second for some reason. Pretty, cool garden with spring fed pool and vegetable area. Couldn't fault it and sorry we were only there for 2 nights but will recommend it to friends.

We stayed in the Olivera room for two nights. Beautiful surroundings and very comfortable room. Jame (sp?) was very kind and helpful throughout our stay. The restaurant was wonderful for lunch and dinner. Highly recommend if in the Madremanya area.

If your looking for beauty and history this hotel has it in spades. The food was amazing and service was first class. The grounds of the hotel date back to around the 12th century. The owner purchased the this property and opened with one room and a restaurant in 1987 and has slowly turned this property into a work of art with 11 rooms (some very large) and a charming pool and garden. If your visiting the countryside of Catalunya DON’T MISS gem.

Very nice hotel in Madremanya, good base to see Costa Brava. Very nice and big family room, very nicely decorated, excellent swimming pool, very good breakfast. Restaurant is very good but pricey.Personnel very friendly, overall an outstanding experience.

This hotel is superb. Exquisite cuisine, fabulous staff, beautiful buildings and garden. Full of birdsong and perfumes. So peaceful. Our room was charming and well equipped. Good Wi-Fi. A lovely reading area with well-stocked library, instagrammable at every turn, we went there as one step on a walking holiday of Catalonia but this is a worthwhile destination in itself.

A beautiful small hotel in a converted farmhouse on beautiful grounds. Jaume he owner was present and helpful. Food was local and excellent. We rode in on a bike tour, and rode through some pretty villages and amazing country. Madremanya is a gem. A cozy little hilltop village with tiny passageways.

Very charming hotel in a medieval town. Very nice rooms, beautiful environment. Friendly and highly professional staff. Owner friendly, competent and welcoming. Joan behind reception also very competent and helpful. Food excellent and of high quality. Dog friendly. Highly recommended.
