Hampton Inn & Suites Madisonville

We stayed at this hotel over the 4th of July weekend using points. We are long-time Hilton members with Diamond status and have never had a problem with other hotels. When we returned home, we found we had been charged $250 in "Miscellaneous Charges." Upon asking the hotel, they told us that we had put a hole in the bathtub but could provide no evidence that it was us and not the staff that created the hole. The manager claims he has "overwhelming evidence" that we did the damage based on "lock reads," but cannot tell us exactly when the damage occurred, so lock reads are useless. This is sad because we visit Madisonville often for family and are long-time Hilton members. We have never damaged a hotel room, intentionally or otherwise, but if we had, we would have reported it and taken responsibility for our actions. Don't stay here unless you want to be falsely accused and lose $250.

It's not exactly a bargain, and the rooms are in need of a refresh. The carpet in my room was worn, the paint was peeling off the ceiling in the bathroom and there was a questionable black ring at the bottom of the shower door. But the staff is super nice, from the front desk to the exceptionally kind woman that runs the breakfast bar. The hotel was blissfully quiet. There is plenty of parking. And it's right next to the expressway, so very convenient to those visiting the Hanson and Madisonville area. They just need a renovation in the sleeping rooms.

The hotel is looking a bit tired. The room was musty and had a few minor flaws - burnt out light bulbs, not well lit, carpet looking a bit old, sheets slipping off of mattress. Breakfast was just fair too. The staff, however, was very helpful and friendly so high marks on that. Pretty expensive for what you get.

The outside of the property is beautiful. The lobby is nice as well as the breakfast area. However, the room, especially the bathroom, is on serious need of restoration. The beds were comfortable, with a microwave, coffee maker, and small fridge. There were no pictures on the walls as I recall, very stark. Then I found the roaches on the bathroom walls. The morning breakfast was adequate for my needs with a pre-made omelette, fresh fruit, juice and muffins. The hotel staff was friendly at checkin and helpful when I showed pictures of roaches. Trip was for a society meeting about 50 of us at this property and others at the Holiday Inn property that shared a drive/parking lot. This property appears newer with upgrades for the same price.

The pictures bellow shows you what you get for $182 before tax. Hilton should be ashamed of themselves! This hotel is not the only one that is going downhills lately. Besides the shabby and trashed rooms the breakfast is as bad - there was only one person working with many guests. The juice machine was out of order, no water, some liquid resembling oj was in two pitchers, emptied in 5 min and not filled up. No one at receptions smiles, kids running amok after 10:30 pm, it was a horrible experience. We’ve been visiting Madisonville, KY and staying in this hotel quite a few times because family lives in the area. It was nice, new and clean but it got ruined fast. I guess the management doesn’t care about maintenance.

We always stay at the Hampton Inn in Madisonville when we are in Hopkins Co. This past weekend was extra special as family and friends made this our headquarters for the Earlington Alumni Reunion Weekend. The staff of the hotel were wonderful!

We were not impressed! The bathroom walls and shower ceiling was peeling. The free breakfast was cold and there were minimal choices available. The 2nd day we skipped the free breakfast. In addition, our room wasn't cleaned/vacuumed, nor beds made. Oddly, the maid asked us if we were checking out...we were staying 2 nights. However, when we returned, neither of our keys worked. The hotel did respond to my email/review and gave me extra points for a poor excuse of a hotel. She told me that they were renovating, which is fine...just don't use those rooms then. For $434 for 2 nights, I think we would have fared better at a Motel 6. Susan S.

I stay at this hotel every week due to business. There is always some kind of complications at check in but this day is exceptionally bad. I had 4 rooms reserved and they can’t get the key code machine to work. I’ve waited for almost an hour and still no keys to get in the rooms. It’s after midnight and no rooms. Poorly trained employees

Spent 5 days here to help rebuild in Dawson Springs. A great place to leave in the mornings after a good breakfast, come back to in the evenings, clean up and get some sleep before another day. Front desk has been most friendly, helpful, and welcoming. Heard and sensed a good team spirit. Fresh coffee and hot cookies available at end of day. Very clean facility. A little needed maintenance that was delayed due to CV19, soon to be addressed according to the upcoming remodeling plan. Carolyn and (Susie? week-end help) in the kitchen set out a good breakfast each morning, are very hospitable making sure every need is met, and keep all surfaces washed and swept clean. All said, we would stay here again.
