Shamar Guesthouse & Dive

I stayed for 11 nights and 17 dives at Shamar. Shamoon and his staff took good care of me while I there and I had a good stay. There are many food options on the menu and the food was good and tasteful. Especially the curries. Karib did his best to get my orders right every day. The dive spots were very varied. Often a more challenging/deeper dive first and then a reefdive as the second dive. The marine life is amazing. I saw whale sharks, jumping dolphins, mantas, turtles, sharks, nudibranches and much much more. Shamoon is an especially considerate dive master and guide who takes good care of all his divers on the boat. Raf and Amu also did an excellent job on the dives. The guest house is the hotel closest to the bikini beach on the island. 100 steps to the ocean. I was upgraded from garden room to ocean view room on the first floor. When I stood on my toes and stretches my neck I could see the ocean. There are no buildings in front but nature has grown a bit since the room had a real ocean view. The trips to and from the harbour are by golf cart driven by the very pleasant and kind Rashid. If you adorn the golf cart with flowers he smiles the sweetest smile. I went to the Maldives to dive and to work as a "digital nomad". If you consider this - buy an international SIM card with data at the airport or the Oreedoo shop on Maamigili. The upstairs terrasse works well as an outdoor office with a fan and a good table - but the internet connection is not good enough for Teams meetings with screen sharing.

Whole team were very professional and friendly. Free bonus stuff we're given generously by the owner. The team knew how to calculate excatky were the require target fish were depending on tides. Boat equipped with Al you would need to dive, snorkel and coffee to tea..

Shamar Guesthouse is the best known secret from the Maldives. The service in the guesthouse is great, the food is very tastefull, the panorama room is big and clean. The Diving is wonderfull. Nasiih was a great guide and we saw almost everything from the bucketlist. Karim did a good and helpfull job in the service. Rachid was the best golfcar driver and took care of the rooms. Shamoon found the whaleshark for us and is kind and interested in you. Markus did arange our trip good and answered all the questions. So I would say: don’t go there…. Its my secret !

My partner and I had a wonderful experience during our two dives with the Sharma. We met Nazeeh and Shaahid who were both very professional and knowledgeable. It was my first time diving and I did the discovery dive. I felt reassured during the training the previous day as I could see the team were highly experienced. I felt safe the whole time during my dives with Shaahid. My partner who is a returning diver enjoyed his experience. Next time we return to Maamigili we will not hesitate to return to the Sharma for diving.

What a stay.. totally loved my stay here.. amd as the saying goes "I'LL BE BACK" Diving was great Staff in Guest House amazing Dive crew equally amazing... I have no doubts recommending divers stay here.. like a liveaboard on land.. this was my 2nd local island holiday and I will do more for sure...

Excellent dive center on Maamigili non-resort, local community island. Ari Atoll where Maamigili Island is located is One of the best areas for diving in the world. Great and professional staff in five star PADI Diving center with full scope of services including nitrox. Very clean, nice rooms, and bathrooms, beautiful, private beach. Very good food. 4 restaurants in 10 min diameter to have a different options. Great ambiance and really nice owners - local diving Instructor with lifetime experience on diving in Ari Atoll and German Partner that delivers great management. Absolutely recommended!
