Mode - the Old School House

We have stayed at the Mode hotel a few times before and decided to try the apartments,the old school house looked impressive,we booked apartment 3 for 2 of us the accomadation was lovely and homely, some things need a bit of updating as showing signs of wear and tear,very warm and cosy though,unfortunatly we had a leak and had to change our room,staff were very efficient and quick to respond and very apolagetic ( not there fault) so we moved to apt 3, again lovely accomadation,again a few niggles but we thoroughly enjoyed our stay,we are looking at coming back for the illuminations.

Apartment 8. Sofas a shabby, no Internet connection on the tv, the shower head doesn't stay in the bracket, making it impossible to shower properly, the water pulses out of the shower instead of flowing, and is either red hot or freezing cold. Not bad for the money but small repairs would have made it better

Great for parking and location. Car park had plenty of room and spaces to park on street if need be. We stayed in apartment 9 top floor. Could be perfect but unfortunately needs a good clean and some TLC. Kitchen and cupboards smelt of damp. Glasses and utensils were dirty and needed washing. TV constantly froze and delayed when changing channel. One thing that really concerned us was the ground floor cellar door open on multiple occasions, the stairs were very unsafe and there was children around. Could be fantastic but needs some attention.

Stayed in Apartment 3 on the ground floor in main building which is a comfortable apartment for two, would have given 4 stars but feel the apartment is in need of a little TLC, some of the furnishings and furniture are in need of replacement and attention to the decorating would help. There is on site parking which helps but if car park is full plenty of on street parking next to building. A fifteen minutes stroll into Lytham St Anne's and a great bus service to Lytham and Blackpool with bus stops virtually outside the apartments. Fan supplied in bedroom which was great and appreciated.

This is only a review for apartment 7, and I can not comment as to the others in the block. We arrived on Saturday evening to find that the immersion heater had not been put on before out arrival, so we had no hot water in the apartment. I could not find the switches for the said heater, as there are 2 that need to be on. A call to the help line number was of little use, as the lady on the line clearly did not know what an immersion heater was, and kept telling me how to turn on the shower. A man was dispatched, but by the time he arrived, we had found the second switch, and turned the heater on. Unfortunately, it was to late to generate any hot water before we had to leave for the party for which we had travelled. The bracket holding the shower head was broken and totally ineffective, leaving you with no option but to hold the shower head in one hand and to try and wash yourself with your other. The drawers in the wardrobe in the double room collapsed into a twisted heap upon trying to pull one out, though 10 mins of banging and forcing managed to wedge them back together so they did not jam the wardrobe doors, though were not usable. The apartment could have done with a good clean from top to bottom, though wasn't to bad. It's a shame, because with very little outlay, it could be a lovely little apartment. The location is great, with plenty of parking on the street next to the apartment, we could not get onto the attached car park, but that was not an issue.
