What a great stay. The resort was amazing. Beautiful grounds, meticulously landscaped. Staff were on their game. Friendly, professional and accommodating. Marcus is investing in this property and it’s understandable why. A new 9 hole course is being built; the spa is planned for renovation; and, the rooms have already been refurbished. The history of this property is rich and deep. My favorite golf courses in the Midwest.
Response from Property: Thank you for your kind words! We absolutely love hearing that our staff took great care of you and that you were able to enjoy the beauty of the property. We are excited to see you again soon!

Weekend stay, the room was clean and fit our needs. Staff at the front as well as valet were helpful. My only disappointment was the quality of the food. We went to dinner Saturday night for the prime rib and seafood however it wasn’t very tasty. Most of the food was cold and not well maintained. We gave it another try for Sunday brunch and yet again the quality of the food wasn’t there. I also had to ask for if they were going to replenish things as most of the stuff was out or not appeasing looking due to sitting out for a long period of time. I would stay again however I’d plan to go elsewhere for food.
Response from Property: Thank you for taking the time to provide us with your comments. We always appreciate the feedback so that we might find what needs improving. We hope that you'll join us again soon so that we may exceed this expectation.

We have stayed here many times. about 2-3 times a year over past 10 years. We usually stay over summer and Thanksgiving week. This year 2024, we will be staying over Christmas week. With any of the reviews, ignore the people that have one posting. Typically one off reviews, because something bad/stupid happened to them. We are seasoned travelers, and know what to expect. Ultimately the traveler makes the vacation, not the resort. This place is the old playboy club that has been transitioned to a family friendly resort . This place is HUGE. Multiple hotels and lodging on this massive complex. There is a ski mountain for wintertime activities. A golf course and farm for summer activities. There is a runway for those who wish to fly in. Many of the old celebrities from Hollywood would fly in, back in the day. A separate building for a spa and huge gymnasium. This place is massive!!! Its a resort and not a hotel, so you WILL pay resort prices. You WILL pay a daily resort fee. You WILL pay more at restaurants. If you can afford the price point, and know its not a hotel, its a resort, this place is amazing. Activities through the day. live music at night in lobby. This is not just a lobby, its a large entertainment area with bar, seating, and good times. Rooms can be a long way from main lobby. very pert friendly (for $65 per day fee). huge indoor pool and hot tub. just lots to do if you take the time up front to review, so you know what you are getting into, and paying for.

Great marketing but average property. Skip the Sunday brunch at the Chop House. It was less than underwhelming. The hot food was cold at 11:30am. We were so disappointed that we cancelled our dinner reservation for Ristoranté Brissago for the next night. We much preferred our chosen dining options in town! Our rooms had an unpleasant smell, rank. Perhaps the furniture and carpet should be professionally cleaned.
Response from Property: Thank you for taking the time to provide your rating. We are deeply sorry that you were disappointed with your stay. If there is anything you wish to discuss further, please feel free to reach out directly. We hope you will consider staying with us in the future so we can exceed your expectations.

Great location for a romantic Christmas get away. The resort is lovely anytime of the year but they go all out at Christmas with decorations everywhere. We loved sitting by the wood burning fireplace in the lounge and soaking in the ambiance of the Christmas decorations. Dinner at the Chop House was perfect. A fine dining experience that is comfortable and easy to relax at. Our server Darlene was outstanding. Professional, knowledgeable and friendly. We will ask for her in the future. I hope that this might become a holiday tradition for us. Well worth it!
Response from Property: Thank you for the kind words! We are absolutely delighted that you enjoyed your romantic getaway with us and hope to see you again next year.

Before leaving for our trip I ended up here and read quite a few negative reviews that made me really nervous. Luckily this wasn’t the case for us. The staff was all really friendly and helpful. Our room (building 3, 3rd floor) was nice, seemed recently updated and overlooked the beautiful property. The fridge was great to have. I thought the landscaping was immaculate and everything was well kept. It was nice to visit the nearby Timber Ridge for the water park and then be able to leave, lol. My kids loved the pools, and the pool service staff was super attentive. Of the restaurants we only ate at the grand cafe but the food was great. My only quibble was when I stayed back at breakfast after my family left to enjoy my coffee and chia pudding in peace and an employee began fully cleaning the table, brushing crumbs onto my legs etc so I felt forced to leave. I’ll give her the benefit of the doubt that she didn’t realize this was rude.
Response from Property: Thank you for the excellent review! We are so glad you enjoyed your stay with us. Please accept our sincerest apologies for not achieving our goal of providing you with an exceptional dining experience. We hope that you will choose to stay with us again!

I agree with the previous reviewer. The lack of A/C or the inability of the A/C to cool the room (s) was a major problem. They advertise as a luxury resort, but I've stayed at luxury resorts before, and this is not one. Restaurant was closed because of a back up of some type. The front desk recommended ubereats as a way to have a quick dinner.
Response from Property: We are so sorry to hear that you didn't feel taken care of by our team during your recent stay. We truly care about each and every guest who walks through our door and try our best to make them feel comfortable and happy during their stay. While we know we can't change what has already happened, please reach out and let us know if we can do anything for you in the future.

By the name, "grand Geneva", you're expecting the best experience. Well, that is not the case. Started out by requesting a second floor room at the time of booking. was told this would only be possible with a $47 per night add on, which I did, no hesitation. Only to walk into our room, facing the parking lot with tree branches covered in old Christmas lights filling the balcony. Not to mention, HUGE spider webs filling the chairs and corners of the entire space. We did not use the balcony. The room was decent but the bathroom could have been cleaner. The resort in itself is getting pretty outdated. Rotted wood that has been painted over, weeds filling the flower beds, bee hives on the light posts along the back of the resort, garbage cans to collect rain water on what were once decorative ledges, cups and crumbs all over the lobby carpet. The pool was nice at night although there are no towels available by the outdoor pool or drink service past 7:30pm. Indoor pool was like a concrete box, absolutely no wow factor. Grand Café buffet was okay but over priced at $50 a plate. The prime rib was extremely chewy. food was pretty basic. The desserts were great & Service by Leanne was fantastic. (amazing woman who works her butt off) over all, we would not stay at Grand Geneva again. The wow factor of a historic hotel is slowly being run into the ground.
Response from Property: Thank you for being our guest recently. We are sorry you were disappointed with the overall feel of the hotel and apologize for the mediocre cleanliness you experienced. We have taken your feedback and are ensuring the quality of our balconies are 100% up to par. We value your comments as we are always looking for ways to improve our guest experience. We do hope you will consider giving us another chance to welcome you back the next time you are in Lake Geneva.

My husband and I were at the resort when the AC went out in the entire resort on July 2, 2024. We noticed immediately upon entering our room, after checking in on the 2nd, that it was hot and stuffy. Husband could not get the thermostat to work and called the front desk to ask if they would send a maintenance person to the room. They said someone would come shortly. We also noticed the tv didn't work. I toured the resort while husband waited for the maintenance person. An hour later still no person. He called again and was assured that someone would be there soon. Another 30 minutes lapsed. He finally went to talk to someone in person when he met a staff member on the way who was getting box fans out of a storage closet. They had a short conversation and husband learned about the AC being out in the whole resort. We had three other family groups arriving the following day. When we went to the front desk they admitted the problem and offered us a discount on the room and a box fan. The temp for 7/3 was to be in the high 80's. Our room temp was 76 degrees. Since we were on the first floor we couldn't leave the patio screened door open all night, nor could we imagine sleeping in a hot room with a fan. When the receptionist was asked by husband if management could guarantee that the AC would come back on, we were informed that the HVAC boss said it was doubtful for the day and couldn't even guarantee it would be on the following day. At least they were honest about that. Long story short (too late!) we were able to cancel our reservation and that of our other family members for a full refund. Since we all live within an hours drive, it was not a driving problem for us to go back home and for the others not to come the following day. However, our family get together was ruined, and several children were disappointed. We tried to book another resort for the two days but it was impossible to get four rooms in such short notice on a holiday week. Other things we discovered that day was the hot tub outside was not working and all the restaurants were closed. The rooms in the main building are dated. Lots of brown, coloring reminiscent of the 70's. The carpet in the hallway smelled. The walk from our room to the lobby is long. The lobby is beautiful as are the grounds. I hear the villas are beautiful. I can't speak for anything else there as we didn't stay long enough to check everything out. The price they charged for the room was near $500 a night because we were there on a holiday week. Even on a good day the room is not worthy of a 4 star resort. Read some reviews when we got home and found that the same thing happened with the AC in the resort in June 2023. Beware!
Response from Property: We can't apologize enough for the inconvenience you experienced this summer. Our chiller system sustained damage due to a storm, and we worked diligently to get it replaced as soon as possible to get the temperatures comfortable for our guests. We can assure you that the system has been replaced and is working as it should be. We understand your frustration, but if there is anything we can do for you in the future, please don't hesitate to reach out.

Once upon a time this was the premier destination in Lake Geneva, times have changed. Our check in was smooth and friendly. I did notice other guests with the Geneva Club package received a special envelope with details that we did not. Many restaurants were closed and I wish someone told me that in advance. I tried to make reservations in advance and the "no availability" reply made me think I was too late to book, not they were all closed. At night we tried to shower with zero hot water and were told it would return in the morning. At the pool, we had superior service. My concern is they were doing outdoor grill from 3-7. They came and lit a large grill around 1:00 and left it out in the open walkway for hours with an open flame present. Although I did not have children with me this trip, there were many kids present. The Grand Geneva should change this practice to avoid anyone being hurt. The fire alarm went off around 9:45 pm and no staff member told us what it was or that we should evacuate. We did receive a note under our door in the middle of the night that it was a false alarm. The service staff are excellent, but overall this resort is not worth the money and the pool grill unsupervised is extremely unsafe.
Response from Property: Safety and security is our number one priority at the resort. I have shared your feedback with our team, so we can investigate and make sure the grilling experience provides great food and a safe environment for all of our guests. We love hearing that the pool service team took such great care of you, but we are very sorry for the inconveniences you experienced during your time with us. If there is anything we can do for you in the future, please don't hesitate to reach out.

Grand When making the reservation I was told to arrive at any time and if the room is ready, we could check in. Mind you, check is 4pm. We arrived at 11:30 and told we could not check in and they would text us when the room was ready. We called several times which seemed to annoy them, and were told each time that they’d text us when the room was ready. We never got the text. We called a 3rd time and were able to check in at 3:30. The reservationist should never tell a guest they can check in early if that’s not the policy. If hotel policy is to text when room is ready, then text when the room was ready. The bathroom toilet handle was broken, just hanging outside the toilet. And it ran almost constantly. And we had to call room service to assist with turning on the television. Why would that not have been fixed? Why are you telling people they can check in early? Text when room is ready! Disappointed, an ok experience.
Response from Property: Thank you for your valuable feedback. We appreciate you bringing these items to our attention. Our team did spend time looking into the issues that you brought to our attention to determine what happened. We have been in communication via email about your concerns, but please let us know if there is anything further we can do for you.

Stayed here for a quick summer get away. Let me just say after booking on their website which was beautiful and luxurious, I was sadly disappointed upon arrival. First off after trying to find our room through the maze of hallways and stairs we finally found our room. Upon entering it looked nice but immediately noticed it was very hot and stuffy after messing with thermostat we made a call only to find out the A/C was out in the entire resort. This unfortunately lasted for our 2 days with no resolution for our stay. They offered a broken very dirty box fan. All the restaurants were closed. The building is outdated run down. Nothing like the website. Why am I being charged a resort fee when there is nothing open? The whole trip was ruined . Positive was the pool and fireworks. Management needs to be more transparent knowing there was no A/C at check in would have been nice and to have the chance to cancel reservation. They did take money off our stay for the inconvenience and offered water . Still not enough for a ruined vacation. I would not recommend this resort.
Response from Property: We are very sorry to hear that everything was not perfect during your stay. While it brings us joy to hear you enjoyed the pool and the fireworks, we would like to apologize for the A/C issue during your stay. Our team worked diligently to repair the system, but we understand that this did not provide ideal conditions for you. It sounds like our team was able to offer some compensation, but we hope you can join us again in the future to experience the resort again.

I had the pleasure to work with Julia Ippolito, the Director of Events. She took care of myself, my wife and our two boys. She is a professional and very careful to details. The facility is very nice for a family that needs a couple of days away from the crazy city life. The place is clean and staff is pleasant, rooms are clean and welcoming. There is plenty of things to do with your family!!!
Response from Property: Thank you for the kind words! We are delighted that you enjoyed your experience with our events team. Our entire staff hopes to see you visit again soon.

My husband and I visited Grand Geneva for our anniversary and it was more than we could have asked for. Upon arrival, Nicholas and Sandra at the front desk were welcoming and helpful. When we got to our room I was impressed by how homey it felt and how immaculately clean it was. We spent our afternoon at the Geneva Club playing games by the fireplace and playing pickle ball in the fitness center. The highlight of the night was dinner at Chophouse. Zach was friendly and Darlene’s provided amazing service to accompany the delicious dinner. We ended our stay back at the fitness center doing some rock climbing with Benj, he was a wonderful guide. The food, accommodations and experiences were all spectacular but what was most impressive was that it felt as though every person mentioned in this review genuinely cared about our stay and experience. That kind of care is rare but at Grand Geneva they’ve hit a gold mine of amazing people ready to take care of you.

Really beautiful property with lots to do. Love the lounge upgrade however it would be even better with a couple more food options. Add a charcuterie board, flatbread or ahi tuna. Honestly $25 for 4 shrimp. Ouch. Otherwise we love the Grand Geneva.
