15min walk from Lyon Part Dieu. Due to construction works, walking and dragging luggage became challenging and not as direct. There was a huge Westfield Mall where you can shop and dine. 10min walk to car rental office. There was a pickup area for us to load up luggage to our rental car just beside the hotel. Check-in process was a bliss. Staff was friendly. Sanitisers were always available. Room was relatively much smaller than Paris hotel. Barely enough space for 2x large luggage. Nevertheless, room was clean and dust-free. Toilet had decent space. Recommended for as a stopover hotel. Probably a night stay.

Hotel Charlemagne is a great hotel. The location was in an esplanade district directly in the route of all public transport. We took a tram to the train station, and the bus to the tourist sites- direct route. There is plenty to eat in the area, with a mall about a 10 min walk. Across the street is a self service all included laundry, very helpful for long trips. Some restaurants in the area close outside the peak hours- mostly 3-6. The staff was very friendly and the bar tender made a great mojito.

Petit hôtel très sympathique, sans prétention, mais très honnete, bien pensé, bien décoré et aux espaces efficacement optimisés et d’excellent rapport qualité/prix avec un petit dej avec des viennoiseries de qualité, ainsi que du bon pain frais, même si une offre un peu plus étendu en salé serait appréciable. Le personnel est extrêmement sympathique et arrangeant . Les « tintins et Astérix » gracieusement prêtés par l’établissement achèveront de vous endormir en douceur.

I stayed here in August and November and am returning in December. (Visiting my daughter on her erasmus year). On both visits to date I have found the rooms, whilst compact clean.and well maintained. The beds have been very comfortable. The rooms have a decent hairdryer, fab showers, free wifi, tv and tea and coffee facilities, which the staff are only too happy to top up. Breakfast is mainly continental (although there is bacon, sausage and egg available - just not my choice) lovely and fresh selection of meats, cheese, fruit, cereal, breads, juices and hot drinks - self serve. The staff, different on both visits, have always been welcoming and friendly. Location wise - perfect, close to trams and buses and easy to access to main train station. Easy to access all sights of interest. My husband and I look forward to revisiting in early December.. the only downside the price in December (during festival of lights) is nearly treble... but that appears to be a similar trend in other hotels at this time. Overall, an enjoyable stay.

Very good sized room. Very clean room and bathroom. AC worked efficiently, though a bit noisy at times. The hotel was very quiet. Parking underneath (reservation required) is very secure with decent sized spaces. Good WiFi. The room does not have a fridge or a safe. Reception staff are excellent. The metro five minutes walk away takes 20 minutes max to Place Bellcour, a short walk to Vieux Lyon. The area around the hotel is mostly offices and residential. There are very few restaurants. We had good pizza in Fabiola. Nothing to do with the hotel but be very careful on the metro. We made the mistake of getting on a crowded train one late afternoon and a pickpocket stole my wife's purse. Luckily, while our credit card is a joint account (so my card was stopped when we blocked hers) we had set up separate Revolut accounts. First time in 40+ years' travelling we've ever had anything like this happen.

Après 3 nuits (payées d'avance)passées à l’hôtel du 5 au 8 juillet 2023 j'ai prolongé d'une nuit du 8 au 9 en accord avec l’hôtesse d'accueil paiement au départ avec les petits déjeuners Dans cette nuit du 8 au 9, alors que je dormais, je reçois un appel à minuit et demi du veilleur de nuit pour me spécifier que : comme je n'étais pas venu, il faudrait que je passe régler la chambre. Je lui précise qu'il me réveille et que je suis bien dans ma chambre entrain de dormir. Il m'intime l'ordre de descendre payer de suite ma chambre. Je lui rappelle qu'il vient de me réveiller et que je règlerai avant de partir, comme convenu lors de la demande de prolongation. Il réagit : ”si vous ne descendez pas payer de suite, je monte”. Une vingtaine de minutes plus tard, il vient tambouriner à ma porte. Je me réveille à nouveau et après avoir ouvert, je lui précise qu'il n'est pas question que je descende payer maintenant. Suite à ces incidents à répétition je ne retrouve pas le sommeil à cause de la surprise et de l’énervement liés à son attitude Le matin j'en parle à l'employée de l'accueil qui s'étonne d'un tel comportement. J'estime ne pas être redevable de cette nuit d’hôtel mais l'employée me dit que si je ne paie pas ce sera à elle de payer. Ne voulant pas la pénaliser je paie et elle me promet un appel du directeur Monsieur NOLHO qui ne manquera pas de me dédommager. J'attends toujours son appel malgré 2 relances téléphoniques de ma part. Une telle attitude est inadmissible.

We enjoyed our stay here. On the plus side: superior double very spacious. Aircon worked. Bed very comfortable with good quality linen. WiFi good. Water and coffee machine. Lift made access to upper floors easy. Lovely bathroom with good quality towels. Staff charming and efficient. Communication good. Great location - right in the middle of Presqu’ile, loads of restaurants, bars nearby and easy to get to all the sights. Ten mins by taxi from Part Dieu. Good price/value for money. Not so great: very little storage space. Shower floor slippery - not good if you have balance is not great. Had to put a towel down. Some things looked a little tired and in need of some tlc. Can’t comment on breakfast. The breakfast room is down a spiral staircase which I couldn’t manage. Never mind. Got a good breakfast elsewhere. On balance would recommend this hotel. Thank you for our stay.

I had the misfortune to stay at this hotel for one night in May 2022 with my mom. At the arrival the receptionist is very nice, aknowledging the fact that we had already paid for the stay through a deal on booking. As the room was not ready yet, we leave for the city centre and as we come back in the afternoon, two other guys at the reception, barely speaking any English or French, hint that we had to pay for the stay. Somehow we manage to be understood and we only have to pay for the ”tax de sejour”. Let's speak about the rooms - I understand that this is an extremely basic hotel, but for the price paid one would at least expect a decent room. Well, this is definitely NOT the case. Rooms are tiny - literally. No hooks to hang clothes, no bathroom shelf, leaving the nice option to leave all your toiletries on the floor. The towels are two tiny towels that might be used to dry your mouth (maybe) after cleaning your teeth - hoping that the sink is not clogged and not fixed (as it was four our case, even after having promptly informed the reception). The TV has NO other channels if not French speaking - I understand we're in France, but haven't you heard of satellite? The AC does not refresh this tiny hole, and even in May, we had to sleep with our windows open not to suffocate What else to say if not: save your money and go else where, for that rate you can absolutely get better accomodation

I like it. I recommend it. I want to stay again next time. It's very good. It's okay, I'm happy Location is good too It's friendly and clean. I highly recommend it.
