15min walk from Lyon Part Dieu. Due to construction works, walking and dragging luggage became challenging and not as direct. There was a huge Westfield Mall where you can shop and dine. 10min walk to car rental office. There was a pickup area for us to load up luggage to our rental car just beside the hotel. Check-in process was a bliss. Staff was friendly. Sanitisers were always available. Room was relatively much smaller than Paris hotel. Barely enough space for 2x large luggage. Nevertheless, room was clean and dust-free. Toilet had decent space. Recommended for as a stopover hotel. Probably a night stay.

The location is on a small hill. If you have luggage, it may be difficult. The environment is quite beautiful, but the bed is very short.
Another thing that is more surprising is that the counter already asked me to pay the city tax when I checked in, and asked me for a city tax when I checked out. She was very suspicious and told me that she didn't trust me. It said that the computer showed that the payment has not been made. I don’t know how the computer wrote it, so I asked her to ask her staff directly. From my experience, guests will be charged when they check in. She also showed a very suspicious I will continue to take what I have... 😊 It took a while to check out, it can be seen that there is a problem with the system of this family~

At the edge of the city, it is more suitable for self-driving, convenient for arrival and departure. But there is a bus in front of the door, and it is not far from the old city. It is estimated that it is not convenient to drive by yourself. The rooms are nice, with a balcony and a kitchen, kitchenware and cutlery, including a microwave and coffee maker. In short, it feels good and worth the money. The only inconvenience is that the opposite side of our room is under construction and it is noisy in the morning.

This is an amazing hotel with impressive architecture and huge grounds which allow a stunning view over the surrounding area. Staff were welcoming and the room was comfortable and clean. Breakfast was served in the large dining room and offered a wide selection of continental breakfast items. My only concern was that the outdoor tables were under my bedroom window and those who were drinking late into the evening could disturb someone who was not someone who went to bed late. With all the grounds, it might be possible to relocate this seating area. But this is only a small point.

The room is small. The location is slightly off the city center and the subway is convenient. There are no shops or restaurants around. Catch up with the annual lighting festival, the downtown area is lively and there are enough people.

This very new building is easy to spot whilst walking (10 minutes) from Bron airport. The foyer and staff are smart, although the electric revolving door is a menace after dark- the curved side panels are invisible . We had a third floor room; although there is only one small lift, inadequate for the size of hotel, the stairs are very easy. There was an excellent view, and no sound from adjacent rooms or outside.Basic comfort was good, with a rather soft bed,but excellent aircon, and a window which both opened fully and had opaque curtains. There was light and space for writing, and a sort of wall mounted seat at which two people could eat on an article like a hospital bed table. The stowage was the usual budget type fixed shelf and coat rail, without a drawer or a safe. Again at budget level ,there was no fridge, but the coffee machine could be used to make tea. The complicated modern bathroom arrangements required three sliding doors, and one hinged, to enclose a space large enough to provide a bath, but instead there was the trendy walk in shower and almost useless shallow basin with no plug.I suppose I should be grateful that the shower did not flood the room. Breakfast was in a rather small room ,with very basic furniture, but as good as the 4 star hotel I am at present occupying in Nice!

A pleasant stay. Good welcome, clean hotel. Nothing to re-repeat on the service. We took the breakfast option: quite varied, the dining room is very beautiful. Clean room. Quiet place or a good atmosphere. We haven't tested the restaurant or the swimming pool because the telos was quite fresh.

Outstanding
GGuest UserThis is a fun property. It's an old building that was a hospital before it was converted. The building is spectacular. It was also very clean. The rooms are quite large - by any standard and especially French standards. The space was also very well utilized. The bathroom was similarly large and well laid out. The location is excellent - near the rivers and lots of tourist areas. It's an expensive area but that's not unexpected. The wifi was good and the A/C worked well. The airport is outside the city so it costs about 50-60€ each way. The property was very quiet. They did a nice job insulating the windows to block traffic noise. Bottom line, I would absolutely return.
GGuest UserHotel Charlemagne is a great hotel. The location was in an esplanade district directly in the route of all public transport. We took a tram to the train station, and the bus to the tourist sites- direct route. There is plenty to eat in the area, with a mall about a 10 min walk. Across the street is a self service all included laundry, very helpful for long trips. Some restaurants in the area close outside the peak hours- mostly 3-6. The staff was very friendly and the bar tender made a great mojito.
GGuest UserFrom the moment I arrived, the staff was incredibly welcoming and attentive to my needs. The room was clean and comfortable overlooking Ampère square. The location of the hotel was ideal for exploring Lyon, with many popular attractions within walking distance or a short tube ride away. I also appreciated the convenience of having a nearby tube station and bus stop, making it easy to get around the city. Overall, I highly recommend the Alexandra Hotel for anyone visiting Lyon. The excellent service, comfortable accommodations, and convenient location make it a great choice for both business and leisure travelers.
CCebAktTraveling as a family of 3, we booked the Executive Suite with the terrace, a double bed and a convertible sofa bed.
Our arrival around 1:00 a.m. went well, a call to the hotel the day before allowed us to learn the protocol to follow for late arrivals 👌🏼
The terrace was perfect for morning coffee, minus the coffee but I'll come back to that later.
Breakfast (literally) available downstairs next to reception, in fact the ladies at reception were very friendly.
Unfortunately, that's where the positives end; neither sheets nor covers could be found for the sofa bed, the mattress of the latter being very yellow I preferred to transform it back into a sofa and sleep that way although it has a large recess in the middle.
No coffee machine in the Executive Suite, at least yes: there is a Nespresso in the central cupboard of the kitchenette but no capsule.
Impossible to order anything via the application that they offer to scan either, nothing was available for the big day so you have to plan coffee for the next day?
The shower handle is on a half-broken bracket but it works 🤷🏽♂️
Oh and I almost locked myself in the airlock trying to open the door for my father, since you need the card to have electricity, be careful with the magnetic card.
GGuest UserWe stayed at a double room in the Sofitel in Lyon for a total of 3 nights in the summer of 2023.
The hotel is located just a few streets from the Place Bellecour which is one of the main squares in Lyon. It is also about 5 minutes away from many cafes, bistros and a large supermarket (Monop’) near Place Bellecour.
The room itself was a fairly standard double room (approximately 20 square metres). The interior and furnishings of the hotel look a bit dated but they were fine and did not matter in any material way. The minibar is complimentary and it is restocked daily with bottled water (still and sparkling), fruit juice, coca cola, and dried fruits and nuts.
The bed was nice and comfortable and the pillows were firm. Our only complaint was that the air conditioning was not very consistent and it would turn off in the middle of the night. It is not an issue if you are staying here in the winter but it made it difficult to sleep at night in the summer.
The staff were all very nice and pleasant. The concierge was especially friendly and he helped us to store our bags and arrange for a taxi to the train station on our last day.
We paid approximately EUR250 a night and we thought it was worth the price.
蒋蒋A family of three, the executive three-person room booked two days in advance, the standard room plus a sofa bed at the time of check-in, the most important thing is that there is no quilt and pillow on the sofa bed! And all the toiletries are for two people. After negotiating with the front desk, I said that I am embarrassed to clean up the mistakes. Then I found a circle and said that I was too embarrassed to be quilted. I can only use the spare blanket in the cabinet! We asked for two sheets to look for. The attitude of the younger brother is good, but it is helpless, and we are speechless. In addition, the room had a pungent taste of decoration (or the smell of carpet cleaner) and opened a night window. Experience the worst hotel on this trip!
GGuest UserMy experience in the Odalys Bioparc was terrible. As soon as we arrived to the hotel we were welcomed by a quite rude receptionist. The sign with her name had the UK flag which one would believe that means that she speaks English. However, don’t fool yourself, the only thing she knows how to say in English is the memorize speech she was given for those who don’t speak French. After being obliged to pay for the city tax, which was supposed to be included, and for which we are still waiting for the invoice, we went to the room. The room was dirty, being full of spots on the carpet and with spider webs in the kitchen. One of the lamp was faulty and was always flashing and the other had fungi and some other insects, which means that it wasn’t cleaned for a long time. Finally, one of the bed sheets was also full of spots and hair. For a client the room was not presentable and when confronted with that the not so nice receptionist said “I can’t do anything” acting very confused as if she didn’t understand what we were speaking in English. I don’t recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a somewhat reasonable accommodation in Lyon since it’s not prepared to host any guests and it is also located well away from the city center.
GGuest UserThe front desk staff were friendly and polite to me, they helped me on things as best as they could and English was well spoken. The view from outside is nice as you are so high up. The hotel is overall ok but it's not high-end, it's old and a little dark, I did not see that opulent wood panelled dining room shown in the Tripadvisor pics, the dining room was nothing like that. The room had an adequate kitchen area which I found very useful and you will need to obviously buy food but also all washing up stuff etc and all cleaners. You clean/make up your own room unless you pay an extra daily charge which I didn't but I'm old enough to make my own bed. However as I was there for 11 days I was told I'd get one cleaning day/linen/towel change after a week but that never happened. Like the last reviewer I was also in Lyon for surgery and this hotel is not suitable for post-op recovery as you really do need to be pretty fit to deal with the location. It is halfway up a very steep hill several hundred yards long so would also not suit older visitors or those that want an easy level stroll to local cafes. The local store at the bottom of the hill is good and is where you can buy most needed supplies and the boulangerie opposite makes very nice mini quiches. This would suit a younger visitor or able visitor and the area is also good for street photographers. Lyon is a nice city and good to explore but if you visit the marvellous Notre Dame Basilica in Fourvierre be very careful. You will need to use the funicular railway to get to it and on this I was mugged by a young steaming gang who pickpocketed my cash and c/cards. One young 20s guy within with two petite, dead face teen girls will block your path as you get on the carriage and literally lock on to you bodily. The guy will start shouting in your face to distract you while the skilful girls are emptying your pockets. You won't feel it.
