Villa Maïa

Modern hotel , smiling and competent staff, indoor swimming pool, it is worth 2 stars, but no more as the so called "Lyon's view" rooms and suites located on the 2nd floor (3rd floor for Americans) have in fact a view on the very high trees or the garage's roof in front of the hotel. Besides, the balcony is oddly half closed instead of offering a full view on the city. So if you want a real amazing view on Lyon, prefer the Villa Florentine. It is a little old fashioned, but has a stunning panorama.

Perfect stay at the Villa Maia; arriving by car was easy as the reception team came and arranged for us to pull up and unload then they parked our car in their garage. The hotel is designed for calm, it was spacious and the rooms in particular were very quiet. The pool is large with plenty of chairs around, also sauna and steam room. Julien the concierge gave us excellent advice for our stay, in particular to use the funicular to come up to the hotel from the old town.

This is a wonderful 5 star hotel located on the escarpement overlooking Lyon including the Rhone and Saone rivers. The location is walking distance to the roman Ampethreatre and the famous Basilica. Close to the funicular to visit the old district. The hotel is modern and very peaceful. The spa is luxurious and the massages were exceptional. Dining in the hotel was great and across the street in the michelin star restaurant was incredible. If you are in Lyon recommend this hotel for a wonderful luxury experience.

A cocoon of a hotel, with magnificent views (if you're lucky to get a room with them, as we did, with an upgrade) across the city to the Alps. We loved the marble and chrome bathroom, the very comfortable bed, the impeccable service from all the staff, and the incredible 20m pool, perfect for doing laps while looking out over the garden. The hotel is up high, within walking distance of the basilica. We loved being there, but next time we would book a table at one of the excellent nearby restaurants, as the food service is limited, though good.

Just spent 5 glorious days at the Villa Maïa in Lyon, and we could not have had a better time! The property is beautiful- situated on a hill overlooking the city with sweeping panoramic views of the Rhône and Old Lyon. What makes this hotel truly exceptional is not just the gorgeous architecture, modern furnishings, or superb spa and pool facilities… it is the staff! A big shout out to Raphael- who we interacted with a breakfast and throughout the hotel. Raphael is awesome!! We looked forward to seeing him everyday, he was great to talk to, super helpful, and just a lovely person. It is very evident that Raphael loves and takes pride in his work and is fantastic at what he does. Also would like to shout out Tatiana, Jorge, Leo, Charles, and Anais. It was so nice to see their smiling faces every day and they all ensured that we had a flawless stay. Thank you Villa Maïa, can’t wait to come back! (Just a technical note- because the hotel is situated on a hill, it can be a little difficult to access. If you want a little exercise, it is a 15-20 minute walk up and down. Can be a bit arduous but doable, and very necessary after enjoying some of the delicious Lyonnais cuisine for dinner. But for those less able, there is a funicular that goes back and forth up the hill for €3 and drops you off 3 minutes from the hotel. And taxis and Ubers are aplenty!)
