Pleasant, friendly and helpful receptionist who kindly listed local places to eat (several within walking distance) Hotel provides free wifi (with good and stable connection). You get what you pay for. No frills just a decent night sleep. The building is dated but everything we needed. We did not spend anytime in the room other than sleeping so were not looking for anything special. We also had our baby daughter with us. The staff were very helpful before and during our visit responding very quickly to email requests. One thing to note google maps does not recognise a private road at the rear of the property. We were attending a wedding at Berkley which google maps said was 25 mins away. But there is a private road that hotel guests are allowed to access to get on the A38 ( avoiding the sat nav M5 detour) No sound of motorway in room, rear rooms have country views and totally silent.

My daughter booked this for a spa day for us. Sadly I wouldn’t recommend didn’t feel spa like at all. The girls in the spa were lovely but whilst having what was meant to be a relaxing massage all you could hear was loud music from a fitness class so couldn’t switch off. Had to be asked to be shown around and charged £10 for robe and slippers. Lunch was ok but for very little was £50 The pool area only had 6 beds in total other than that was chairs. Just not the relaxing spa day you would expect then there was no staff in the pool area where 3 young lads proceeded to keep water bombing in the pool so we didn’t go in. I’d avoid this if you wanted a relaxing peaceful day.

Room was ok. Sofa bed (used by our son) was uncomfortable - he could feel the slats underneath. Breakfast also ok but croissants cold and tough. Although the hotel was accommodating to dogs last year when we stayed and very friendly staff wise, our stay this year was met with indifferent to unfriendly staff and we were told our dog was unable to accompany us to breakfast (again different to last year). This meant breakfasting in shifts (no idea what single travellers with dogs do) This was also different to our experience in Taunton Holiday Inn Express where our dog could stay with us for breakfast and staff were really friendly and helpful. For £146, this is not a budget option and the company might want to coordinate its policy on whether it wants dogs to stay or not as it's confusing for customers. Won't be staying again.
