Very disappointed that it was 2 days before our arrival that we were informed that the restaurant was going to be closed for a holiday when we arrived. We booked the hotel because of the reputation of the restaurant and as others have commented, the town is dead at night, so no local alternative. No staff around until the following day, with the keys left in a lock box by the front door, and nobody on hand to recommend an alternative restaurant or food shop Breakfast was worth waiting for, with an excellent selection of local cheeses, although the patron was pretty gloomy, with little inclination to engage. The rooms were comfortable and nicely decorated, and there is parking a few minutes away in the village car park. There were also some nice artisan shops and a cafe open the following morning. With a bit of effort, the hotel has all the ingredients to make it to a 4 star review, but unless they improve their customer engagement, I’m afraid it will languish as an underwhelming experience.
