We booked a two-bedroom cottage. First, the good points. The view from the cottage, which was only a couple of metres from the water's edge, is stunning. It looks across the water to the mountains beyond. It's a quiet, peaceful location. The rooms are quite spacious and the shower is good. Unfortunately, the bad points outweighed the good. I booked it because it had two bedrooms, but access to the second bedroom was via a near-vertical wooden ladder with narrow slatted rungs. Useless for anyone with mobility issues, and very awkward for anyone else. On arrival, the beds were not made up and the bedding was in plastic packaging, so we had to do it ourselves. The undersheet was single-sized and did not fit the double bed. The only furniture in either bedroom was a wardrobe (with only two coat hangers) in one of them. No bedside tables and the curtain in the bedroom let in most of the light -no good for people who like sleep in the dark when it's light outside all night. None of this is mentioned in the accommodation description and there were no photos of the inside of the accommodation. The beer and food in the restaurant were reasonably price and the food was OK, but the service was very slow.

In Skjolden, we stayed one night at the Skjolden Resort. We ate pizzas with a breathtaking view, overlooking the Lustrafjord. If you ask in advance, you can enjoy a warm hot tub on this same terrace, and that’s definitely something you shouldn’t miss during your trip to Norway :) Want to know more about our roadtrip in Norway? Skjolden Restort has accommodation on the edge of the Lustrafjord. We stayed in one of the flats over the water. The flat was roomy and comfortable, perfect for my wife and I. The views from the balcony were stunning. We had a joyful, relaxing time. Our only mistake was not staying longer. The location was perfect. We especially appreciated the clear communication, along with the ease of check-in and check-out. We would highly recommend it!

We stopped here to admire this absolutely superb "Skjolden Brygge" when we visited this area whilst on a Cunard Cruise. The views afforded to this location are just mind blowing with superb unbroken views down the Fjord with the high walled mountains all around with snow capped tops. The town itself is very small with only 200 residents we were told. It is such a picturesque, peaceful stunning location and to stay in anyone of these wonderful buildings would be unbelievable. We found the locals to be so friendly and the tourists were respectful back as they could all appreciate what we had witnessed which was an area that time had almost forgotten tucked away from prying eyes. Certainly worth a visit if you like peace and quiet.

The view over the fjord from these houses is incredible, but there are more places like this in Norway. The houses have extreme thin walls, so you can hear all noises grom the neighbours. Kitchen is equipped, but a lot of things are missing Cleaning was bad : still food on filter in dishwasher, hairs in shower, candy wrappers in seat… Small things not functioning , ventilation in bathroom, a lot of spots not working… on complaining nothing happened. Staff is Unhelpfull and unfriendly. They never did a thing to help or solve problems For the prices paid… i wouldn t recommend this, although the location is nice.

Stunning location at the end of an amazing fjord. We woke up to rain, clouds and an amazing view - it was fantastic. Then we went exploring in the national park nearby - waterfalls around every corner, cliffs, fall colors. Some of the most amazing scenery I've seen in my life. Totally recommend it - wish I'd planned to stay for several days.

The site is unimaginably beautiful. I could have sat all day on the deck soaking in the fjord. But of course Skjolden the area has so much to offer with hiking, biking, waterfalls, boat rides and day trips to the glacier and National Parks, we were very busy. The cabins are equipped with everything you need and they are very clean and spacious. The manager was very friendly and accommodating.

Really nice apartments which is super affordable. All the essentials are there, and you can make a living easily. Nothing better than to wake up, go to the terrace/balcony and enjoy the view of Sognefjorden and the mountains surrounding Skjolden. Really good area to stay if you are into nature, hiking, photographing as you will be surrounded by three national parks.
