The location is excellent, just a few meters from the coastal road. The (sportboat) port is only 200 metres away, so you can walk on the sea side to the other end of the place to take the ferry there. The hotel is conducted by two business-made ladies, who made me a stick for a single trip room 140 euros, which was clearly too much. The place was clean, but the food was awful. One of my friends got sick from their ham. It is like 20 minutes away from Varese center by foot, it is like 30 minutes away from the train station, my point is it is quite far from the things of interest of Varese/places to eat ( you have to search them, because besides the coffee, nothing has taste there) At lunch, we had brocolli wich looked really awful. Horrible food.

The view is stunning. We stayed in two of the economy rooms ( without view to the lake). The rooms are basics but comfortable enough( plentiful warm water with good pressure) and at a good price. This area of Italy is really beautiful and not meant for you to stay in your room for hours on end. The breakfast buffet in the restaurant ( gorgeous view) includes good proper Italian cappuccino, different pastries, ham, boiled and scrambled eggs , toast , fruits, yoghurts. The service is good and attentive. We also had pizza in the evening . The pizzas are thin and very big. We enjoyed them. The receptionist and Maria were particularly nice to us, giving us advice and arranging things for us. This region in Italy is full of hills and the incline of the streets can be quite steep with many curves in the roads. If you decide to rent a car I would advise an SUV or a 4X4 the streets are in a good state but a stronger car will manage easier those hills. When you are arriving to the hotel you should follow the signs of the hotel instead of your navigation system. Our navigation system selected a route that passed an old village with very narrow streets ( only fit for very small cars or motobikes). You can easily get stuck on those narrow streets. I would strongly recommend arriving at the hotel during the day and not when it is dark. I would definitely stay in hotel la Stampa again.

Ho trascorso un piacevole soggiorno di 5 notti presso l'Hotel ”Il Pesce DìOro” localizzato in una posizione tranquilla con vista lago. All'arrivo la procedura di check-in è stata rapida e senza intoppi, cosa particolarmente apprezzata considerando le tante ore di viaggio accumulate. Il personale della reception si è mostrato cortese e disponibile nel fornire informazioni sulla struttura e sui servizi offerti. Le camere cosi' come i bagni sono spaziosi e soprattutto puliti, il buffet per la colazione offre una discreta gamma di proposte sia dolce che salate. In sintesi il soggiorno è stato piacevole e confortevole. Lo consiglio vivamente per una vacanza sul lago Maggiore.

Hôtel charmant dans un cadre ravissant. Personnel souriant et attentionné. Chambre équipée de tout le confort nécessaire, avec de surcroît un joli balcon. Très bon buffet petit-déjeuner. Une petite mésaventure m’est arrivée dans cet hôtel : j’ai malencontreusement oublié dans ma chambre une pochette contenant mes foulards favoris. Lorsque je m’en suis aperçue, j’ai pris contact avec la réception, et mes précieux foulards m’ont été promptement renvoyés. Je remercie tous les membres de l’équipe pour leur gentillesse et leur professionnalisme !
